Just because they can say it doesn't mean ot can't hurt my feelings. And i do wish tjere were no speech rules here.

They were being facetious. They don't actually believe those things. They're past posts will reflect that.

Here's what you seem to misunderstand about the American concept of free speech...

The GOVERNMENT cannot censor or punish your speech, BECAUSE that is the duty of your fellow citizens.

Free speech doesn't mean you can or should be able to say anything you like without criticism or consequence.

PC counter speech is part of free speech too. It started from the notion that people other than white males are also worthy of politeness and consideration.

So ... free speech is okay with you as long as it doesn't hurt YOUR feelings.

Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

It can hurt my feelings. I will die for them to call me a fa***t. And people can be pc. But we do have rules on this site, a private site. And i can counter. But again, i will die so they can offend me and so pc's can be pc. I just don't like it. You all painted me into a weird corner where i could only sound like a hypocrite.

No, "we all" have read what you have posted and drawn the obvious conclusion. First...Then...What other conclusions could be drawn?

I will keep their right to offend me. I stay steady. I just brought up that i can have my feelings hurt. So i may counter from opinion. In debate format. Not censor. I just WISH there was more civilized vocabulary. And yes, i know o swore at first. So i will admit to my fault there.

There needs to be "speech rules", because (obviously) some people would abuse the lack of rules to such an extreme extent that no one would feel comfortable logging in, unless he or she was a troll.

Fair point my friend. So, do you also understand that i still stick to free speech for all, rascist, homophobic, PC, whatever. But i may counter from my OPINION to these things. That's all i ever meant. I will die for these people, but they can hurt my PERAONAL feelings.

The irony of SJWs is that they are hurting the very people they think they're defending. They respond in such a violent and hateful way to differing opinions that even those who would normally take their side are forced to defend the right of a racist to call someone a n****r.

They're just adding fuel to the fire of intolerance. Do they really think the guy who says in a civil manner, "I personally think being gay is a choice," is going to respond well to them calling him a bigot and getting him fired from his job? Maybe he just disagreed with them initially, but now he really does hate them.

Agreed. They very well may be a significant factor in electing Trump president. An example here is we have had a number of people in another thread defending Nazis(calling them Neo Nazis is BS) right to free speech.

I think it goes back to the fact that we don't teach people how to discuss things anymore. If we still taught via Socratic/dialectic methods I think things would be much better...

But that kinda goes against American culture. We aren't comfortable with the idea of uncertainty. We want to frame everything in terms of right/wrong, good/evil, black/white. This leads to an impulse to confront rather than convince...

It's gotten really bad in social sciences.

White privilege is a real thing. HOWEVER, it has been presented in such a provocative, accusitory way that it has become a thought terminating cliche. That doesn't help anybody. It just creates needless conflict and no progress is made.

Things started going wrong when "tolerance" became a dirty word and everyone started insisting "clelbration of diversity."

Humans being what they are, they cannot all celebrate diversity. That requires an emotional component that you just cannot fake and attacking people for the way they feel is never helpful.

But we can and should encourage tolerance. Tolerance is something any thoughtful human being can achieve.
