So who would y'all rather have, Trump or Robertson?

I never knew that Roberson had ever run but the idea of him as president does amuse me...

He would mandate teaching Intelligent Design in the schools.

There would be many people who would be blinded when True Knowledge is presented to them.

Not only that he won 9% of the vote and 4 Republican Primaries in 1988. He also almost won the Iowa Caucus.

pat Robertson is a war-mongering "chicken hawk" in that he got his senator daddy to get him out of Korean war duty. he doesn't walk the walk, he is all talk. he also believes that poor people will burn in hell because they must've done something bad to displease god [not work hard enough]. he is a disgusting hypocrite.

Robertson's foreign policy would be dangerously Isolationist---maybe worse than what Trump proposes.

I don't that's why I want to create a story around it. Basically an alternate history story where Pat Robertson becomes president.

think of it as a description of a dystopia. you just have to flesh it out along authoritarian religious lines. but be aware that such has been written about in at least one novel, "the handmaid's tale" by Margaret Atwood. I would read that one first so you can know what to borrow and what to avoid.

Imagine having a President who believes God talks to him directly, because that's what Robertson does. On his show, he has what he calls his "word of knowledge," in which he makes predictions that he claims come directly for the Almighty. So far, his predictions are no better than Ed Wood Jr's friend, the psychic Criswell, who had been making predictions such as that there would be a base on Mars by the 1970's.

the
scary prediction would be what a president Robertson would make come true by executive fiat/rubber stamp dominionist congress. 8O

The very thought chills my liver. :pale:
I like to think the blue states would have held out against him and his religionists.
