You're saying that this prospective dictator is "#LiterallyHitler."

Then, what is he supposed to make of physically-weak people, having emotional breakdowns. If I thought I was going to die, at any moment, I might like to appear resilient, intelligent, and successful.

Nah, Trump's not Hitler; he isn't nearly as bright as Hitler.

Eh, let's give credit where it's due:

- Started an anti-establishment movement and knew that being derogatory toward nearly any demographic he wasn't part of would get him free publicity (and let's face it, unspoken support).

- Came up with two simple lies slogans (maybe more, idk), kept saying them, and made people believe them.

- Used modern technology (Twitter), with [supposedly] perfect choice of words, and was able to redirect media attention before each potential scandal by tweeting something outrageous.

There's also foreign hacking, but whatever.

I can come up with worse.

It doesn't make me want to run around in traffic.

When someone thinks you're a clown, it's more rebellious, to show decorum.

Why do conservatives keep making up new mental illnesses called "X Derangement Syndrome"?

"Bush Derangement Syndrome"
"Glenn Beck Derangement Syndrome"
"Trump Derangement Syndrome"

It's not even remotely clever. It just makes you sound like an angry grandma.

Because it implies the problem is entirely a mental issue with liberals, not taking into consideration that liberal criticism might be legit.

I don't think the terminology is particularly partisan, I've heard of Clinton Derangement Syndrome before, and it's generally used when the opposition to a particular person has gotten particularly over the top, e.g. that the Clintons were running drugs out of Little Rock or that Bush let 9/11 happen on purpose.

I've seen multiple quotes claiming that Trump being elected was literally worse than 9/11; if that isn't deranged, I don't know what is.

Yes, there are insane people on both sides of the political spectrum. But legitimate criticism is just as often accused of being of a derangement syndrome.

Again though, that's hardly uniquely partisan, which I can attest to from the number of times I've been attacked for making legitimate criticisms of Obama.

Maybe it's a spin-off of all the made up clinical sounding labels like "Islamaphobic".

That and basically equating it to the Holocaust.

Perhaps, but legitimacy is in the eye of the beholder, especially when motivation for that criticism is taken into account.

You should be so skeptical when the criticism is going in a direction you approve of, it would do you some good.

Perhaps. But what if I share the same criticisms? What if I know said criticisms are legitimate, and not just an opinion I happen to like?

What I'm saying is that everyone has confirmation bias, we all want to believe things that confirm our beliefs, so we should be extra skeptical of information that feeds our biases. That's a big part of the reason I read a good six or eight news sites every day ranging from Salon to Breitbart, to see the same stories covered from opposite ideological positions and hopefully draw a clearer picture of what is really going on, rather than just absorbing the conclusions drawn for me by sites that more closely align to my own beliefs, like Reason.

Indeed. If your political ideology isn't malleable, you're probably an ideologue (though, of course, one should not be overly-malleable when it comes to one's principles).

only 3000 people died on 9/11. when the ACA is repealed, 37,000 per year will die needlessly until republicans decide to stop "delaying" and replace. not to mention the death and displacement doing less about climate change will cause. that's literally worse.
