Federal immigration law also includes Section 1182(f), which states: “Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate” (emphasis added).

That seems fairly clear.

I bet that's something most people don't know about. But I'll bet Trump knew all about it. Some people like to think he knows nothing about what he's doing or doesn't have access to those with tremendous knowledge, when they're really the ones who are less informed.

There are those operating on pure emotion who keep proclaiming that he'll get impeached, but they probably have no realistic knowledge of what's actually an impeachable offense.

No worries -- in a day or two he'll be announcing his Supreme Court pick, and the outrage mob will forget immigration and run off to start barking at something else.

Scott Adams, of Dilbert and election prediction fame, thinks Trump is deliberately enraging the left with this move, so that he can use the backlash to justify walking back some of his campaign promises to the immigration hardliners without losing them. Sounds kinda convoluted to me, but then Trump keeps surprising me with his savvy, and Adams seems to have him better figured out than most.

He savvied his way right into the White house while hardly spending a dime, not sure why you're laughing.

That had a lot to do with Mr Putin and the Russian hackers. (Ras)Putin definitely has savoir faire. Which should be cause for concern for any straight thinking Americans. Of course Trumpies fall for his bullsh*t artistry but they are a joke. He did not manage to win the popular vote and of course will claim he never spent any money on his campaign. Since he cannot control the media, he tries to discredit the "MSM" with more claims about fake news. I'm just not buyin' it. And most of the country isn't any longer.

Russian hackers allowed a loud mouthed political neophyte with more baggage than Amtrak to beat back a career politician who's been planning this run for decades?

The irrelevant popular vote, since apparently everyone but the democratic partisans know we don't use that in this country. As to his spending, did his campaign seem particularly expensive to you, lots of TV commercials and professionals, etc?

He seems to control the media just fine using this little app on his phone, you might have heard of it. Whether you're buying or not, to paraphrase Charlie Sheen, he's already got your money, not much you can do about it now.

I like the way some people keep going back and forth between mocking the Great Pumpkin as being witless and powerless to saying how terrified they are of him becoming an all powerful Big Brother dictator.

Also I like the notion that Putie was able to utterly defeat Clinton single handed with a worn out phishing scam a 12 year old could have sent and only the most gullible would have fallen for. Imagine how fast he would have taken her down if she had gone up against him as prez.

An all powerful dictator can be a witless idiot. The great pumpkin however, is not all powerful. The other branches of the government are already pushing back against him. Much to your dismay.

Also, nice strawperson you got there.

That's fine I have no emotional investment in Trump.

This is not what I said. Nor insinuated. So yes, you made a strawman and I demolished it.

Well of course you won't pee in my cheerios! Because I eat them in a bowl on a table and for you to do such a thing, you'd have to learn to pee standing up.

How did you know my physical disability requires that I have to sit to pee? 8O
