For those of you who do not know. The coalition negotiations are dragging on longer then expected. But will probably end up in a combination of VVD-CDA-D66-Groenlinks. Alto the latter might be replaced by PvdA, who got decimated during elections. However Groenlinks might to be to far left for the tastes of the VVD and CDA.
And in parallel to the USA there is a bit of a melt down going on among the far left because Baudet. But also a small part directed towards SP-prominent Marijnissen, because he made remark about the importance of communicating in Dutch.
IN other news the SP, PVV and PvdA failed to secure a majority to get secure more money for nursing homes. Because the CDA, D66 and Groenlinks want to wait until the end of the coalition formation talks before making a decision on that point.
CDA, VVD and D66 will surely be in government as the parties have been in a coalition before, but the question is with whom. The Dutch Greens (GroenLinks) have the most solid claim because of the size of their victory and because climate change is perceived as a problem that needs to be tackled in some form.
The PvdA could replace GroenLinks if negotiations fail, but I think it's unlikely. After being severely punished with a near wipeout, they could hardly justify getting into government again. And they also might want to do some healing and soul searching instead.
What about the Christian Union (left-wing Christian conservatives)? With regards to climate change their programme is almost as ambitious as those of GroenLinks and D66. They are less left-wing than either GroenLinks or the PvdA, which would make them more palatable to the VVD. Yet they are still more left-wing than the other three parties. The CDA would welcome the Christian Union, because it too is Christian, conservative and opposed to expanding euthanasia. D66 won't like it but if GroenLinks is out of the picture, which alternatives would they have?
