The Time Has Come For «Fake News» Bashing...

... Personally though, I don't watch Fox and Friends either.
I gave up TV years ago, only watch it
if I'm visiting a friend or relative, and watch
video clips here and there online sporadically.
I swore off "mainstream" media years and years ago when it became clear that it had legally become "entertainment." If some tidbit of "what's happening" snags my attention, I will read it and verify it using several other news sources both mainstream and alternative. Being loyal to just one or two sources is the sign of a gullible person.
Personally, I would be humiliated to work for the mainstream media.

Getting any information from TV is a mistake
The 'news media' are simply a cabal of hidden special interests concentrated in the big liberal urban cities on the coasts, it should not be a surprised why there is such a disconnect between the American people and the elitist media. There use to be a time when local media existed but they've almost all been gobbled up by like 1 of companies who fancy themselves as the fourth estate.

Exactly right! But, the infamous six global media empires include print media, too. When the mainstream media lacks verifiable information, I doubt it, and verify through other, non-media means. For example, when a news report discusses certain legislation, I always find the actual legislation discussed before I trust "old Johnny-on-the-Spot" news channel. I do the same with news reports about private corporations (corporations love having a news-release section on their web sites). So, largely, I have created my own news sources without needing to read, watch or listen to others mangle it up for me. I have cut out the people in the middle.

At least, "undeniable truth."

Scott Adams continues to analyze the psychology of the media's post-election behavior:
I think we can all agree that there has been plenty of fake news coming from both sides. Fake news is usually intentional, although in some cases it is the result of honest mistakes. But lately we are seeing an entirely new type of untrue news. I call it Imaginary News. Here’s a good example from the Huffington Post.
You might recall that the Huffington Post made a big deal of refusing to cover Trump on their political pages when he first announced his candidacy. They only carried him on their entertainment pages because they were so smart they knew he could not win.
Then he won.
When reality violates your ego that rudely, you either have to rewrite the movie in your head to recast yourself as an idiot, or you rewrite the movie to make yourself the hero who could see what others missed. Apparently the Huffington Post chose to rewrite their movie so Trump is a deranged monster, just like they warned us. That’s what they see. This isn’t an example of so-called “fake” news as we generally understand it. This is literally imaginary news. I believe the Huffington Post’s description of the press conference is literally what they saw. If you gave them lie detector tests, they would swear they saw a meltdown, and the lie detector would say they were telling the truth.

One has to be cognizant of the biases and personal interests of their media sources, context always matters. Where, how, and why did these 'journalists' develop the views that they hold? You have to ask yourself why did they publish this? What is it's purpose? Why should I consider their reality part of mine? They apply this standard towards you so you'd be foolish not apply it in return, assuming objectivity is why we've been so taken advantage of.

Donald Trump has serious issues. He is STILL whining about how he should've won electoral votes. He's still praising himself for winning the election. He's not only a sore winner but an ego maniac. He is the freaking president now- he needs to grow up and deal with important issues for USA! Not his personal matters with the media. Not his business. Not his children's businesses either!
Here's some- clean up oil spills! There is a few at the least that haven't been cleaned up completely! Fix the water completely in Flint, Michigan. Fix the crime issues in various cities! Fix the issues with the dam in California and other related things.
Yes I realize all of those things take time- but the fact he would rather whine and moan about how media is bashing him, is petty and immature. Many of the times the media (not just mainstream) uses his EXACT QUOTES and he still whines about how it's fake news or just whines in general on how he is being treated. The media should NOT post positive things about his garbage, especially when he does something wrong. In Trump's mind he never does anything wrong and the media should just praise him non-stop 24/7.
The Republicans need to wake up and impeach this guy already. He's still in charge of his businesses and making profits off them. Go look it up- he just won some copyrights for stuff he is selling in China.
If people want to ignore that stuff, fine. Here's something that shouldn't be ignored- someone photographed the nuclear suitcase at Trump's club!
Also Trump the conman still hasn't released his taxes. Reporters need to start calling him out on it in every press conference. Bring up all the times he said he would do it- the footage is there! Call him out on his other lies- like "draining the swamp", which he really didn't do. He just made it worse with rich elite that care about big oil, money and not much else.

LibertyFund.org: Jefferson’s preference for “newspapers without government” over “government without newspapers” (1787)
None of that changes what I said about John McCain, he's called McShame for a reason.

Fake news ≠ free press, what they do is not in error. Whining about the president not being nice to you ≠ your free speech threatened, the president is entitled to his free speech just as we are.
Thomas Jefferson also banned ALL foreign trade during his presidency fwiw

What you said about McCain is irrelevant.
So how are we defining "fake news?"

With all the bashing of the mainstream media, how about labeling real fake news for what it is, such as:
Breitbart
Fox
The Drudge Report
Alex Jones
to name just a few.
All of which have exaggerated the truth, to telling out-and-out falsehoods. Or does their political ideology make them beyond reproach?
