@Kraichgauer I RESPECTFULLY disagree with this, I have always supported this New World Encyclopedia definition of the word "Arab", in other words, someone whose mother tongue is Arabic. I have seen Arabs with blond hair and I have seen Arabs with pitch-black complexions.

Of course this gets muddied due to the concept of national sovereignty having been somewhat different in most of the Arab world, until Europeans came in and imposed their own version.

Same as Jews are a people defined by their religion rather than their ethnicity - in fact anyone could make the same observation about Jews as I just did about Arabs.

PS in the interest of full disclosure, the Wikipedia entry for "Arab" doesn't fully support my position. I stand by it, though!
