Unlike scientific theories such as gravity which it's often equated with, the theory of evolution remains hotly debated.
Questioned by people who would prefer to peddle mythology as science. Outside of those fringe groups it's as accepted as the theory of gravity. Also, the Discovery Institute are known for promoting pseudo-science and trying to reframe this issue as being controversial; they lack legitimacy.
Finally, scientists who aren't in the field of biology arguing against evolution might be scientists but they're not experts in this particular field - they're merely laymen like you and I.
