You could be right, and I suppose I'm so used to the US and how things are here that I'm having trouble translating my mind across waters with respect to aristocracy. We don't have lords, dukes, etc. but I've been to at least a few events in my day where the room was so filled with people who knew their family's exact rank in the county that the air almost felt unbreathable, and I'm sure this is probably that on steroids.

I cant even keep it straight which prince is marrying Meghan, and which one married Kate, but I know the basics of how it represents change. My American Depression generation parents, and their friends, all still havent gotten over how a future king of England abdicated to marry an American commoner, and that happened way back on the eve of WWII.

I loved this wedding because Harry married an American "commoner". This was clearly for love. I also am overjoyed at how it sticks in the craw of both the racists and royalists, who have called Harry a race traitor who is destroying the monarchy.
