Yeah I don't get why the lefties keep accusing Trump of colluding with Russia. Can't they just say he's not a very good president without making stuff up about Russia?

well unfortunately the stuff about Russia is not all made up. Also maybe they ought to deport his wife...I hear they are not cracking down as hard on russian immigrants.

Haven't they already deported enough people?

That is no the point...I don't really want anyone deported, I am not saying I would support that. The point is if they are going to deport everyone from south of the border who is not documented...why not undocumented Russian immigrants? Trumps wife is a Russian immigrant why isn't she in a camp based on the 'no tolerance' policy? And her cute jacket about how she doesn't give a f*ck.

Actually, she's Slovenian.

To say "well the Democrats don't share my one view, therefore they're getting worse" is rather simplistic.

Give me neoconservativism over Assad sympathy any day.

Trump won amongst the middle class, and they roughly tied among the rich.

I think it's highly probable that Russian interference swung Michigan. I also think it's well within the realms of possibility that they swung Wisconsin, Pennsylvannia, Florida, and even North Carolina, but I don't know exactly how many messages the average person needs to receive to change their vote.

Comey, and the ridiculous email narrative, were probably bigger factors than the Russian interference. But we shouldn't underestimate the impact that Russians deliberately spreading fake news on social media had upon the election.

When did I only mention Syria?

There's not a shred of evidence that there was a "gas attack". It was staged by the British funded "White Helmets"

It isn't that I just disagree with them. It is the liberal media and the Democrats have literally gone insane since Trump won. They had a meltdown like never before and are just digging themselves into a deeper hole. More and more people are getting sick of their phony identity politics.

Bombing Syria without a shred of evidence makes him "Presidential". Cutting back on ILLEGAL immigration makes him der Fuhrer.

Neoconservatives have killed a million people in Iraq, supported white phosphorus being poured over schools and hospitals in Gaza, the destruction of Libya, Syria and Yemen. Yet fake gas attacks and fighting Al Qaeda and ISIS is somehow worse in your eyes.

What "fake news"? The media were silent about Clinton's crimes and focused on what Trump said on a bus 12 years ago and Clinton still lost. Nothing to do with Russia.

The title of this thread is like Stepping into the middle of the back plague and saying "Steve Has Got a plague!" then pointing to just one guy (named Steve) and pretending nobody else has the plague.

I really do think a lot of people have lost their minds. If Hillary had won, I would not have been happy about it, but I wouldn’t have thought the world was ending. I certainly would not go about wishing harm on her. I have read some terrible, terrible things, and seen some terrible, terrible photographs involving previous administrations, but I still believe those people deserve dignity and due process of our American legal system. I am dumbfounded when I hear and read the things coming out of people these days. It’s not American and it’s not right. And if you’re not an American and you’re still getting upset about our politics, I say you need another hobby.

We all walk around on the same streets, enjoy the same American liberties and life comforts- why in the world are people pretending we don’t all have common values? Maybe it’s too many young people who don’t remember the weeks after 9/11, when party affiliation disappeared and American flags flew everywhere. We are all on the same team here. Don’t get lost in the drama on your screen and forget who and what we are.

Well we both know that is the case. The real reason Sanders and Trump were not wanted is that they were slightly different to the norm. Trump more than Sanders obviously. Sanders was conned because socialism is a nasty word in the US.

Not really. I lived most of my life in Michigan and it has a political divide. Upper Michigan has a fair number of democrats while Lower Michigan has a lot of Republicans and outnumbers Upper Michigan. Thing is even though the state will vote Democrat particularly if their Republican governor is being a jack ass, if a Democratic candidate comes off as dismissive towards Michigan in any way or piss off the swing voters in any way they will promptly get the finger from the state. Clinton running her mouth about deplorables and the like was a massive red flag to the swing voters.

Democrates court-packing talk is just crazy by John Podhoretz

Quote:
Anger, denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance: These were the supposed five stages of grief, according to Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. Judging from the grief-addled worldview of the American left-liberal in the wake of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s retirement, Kubler-Ross forgot one: self-destructive lunacy.

How else can one account for the way they’re floating radical ideas about the Supreme Court whose implementation would only cement their own powerlessness for a generation or more?

The idea that’s simultaneously the most popular and the most insane is increasing the size of the Supreme Court. The court, said scholars from the Harvard Law School to click-bait morons at two-bit Web sites, should be grown to 15 justices.

This is also known as “packing the court,” a term derived from a near-constitutional crisis in 1937 when an angry FDR went a long way down the road to trying to implement it when he felt the sitting Supremes were derailing his agenda unfairly.

Students of American history ever since have been taught the perils of executive-branch overreach through the “packing the court” moment. FDR’s determination to rid himself of one of the key checks and balances on his power provided exactly the example history needed for the continued strength of those checks and balances.

Right now liberals are terrified at the prospect of President Trump arrogating fascist-like powers to himself. So why would liberals therefore start arguing for the president to get more Supreme Court picks?

Follow my logic for a minute. Liberals say the court should be bigger. McConnell and Trump say, hmmm — why not? Let’s do it now!

If Republicans aren’t wiped out in November and even improve their position in the Senate a little, what is there to keep McConnell from moving a bill forward to enlarge the court? After all, it’s a Democratic idea! It’s the liberal desideratum!

Yes, I know liberals are dreaming of a day when Robert Mueller descends from the heavens and smites Trump with a thunderbolt that magically removes him from office. But if that were to happen, Mike Pence would be president. The dynamic wouldn’t exactly alter itself.

Why do they want Trump or Pence to reconstruct American law through a larger Supreme Court with an 11-4 conservative composition using Mitch McConnell as their bludgeon?

Truth is, I don’t think McConnell would do this. His career suggests he doesn’t believe in radical constitutional restructuring in this manner. But liberals think McConnell will do anything to advance his own and his party’s power. And yet they’re proposing his empowerment in the grandest possible fashion.

It’s psychotic.

All in all, the liberal freakout makes no sense. If Ruth Bader Ginsburg had announced her retirement, that would be one thing. This is not that thing. Though Kennedy has been heterodox on hot-button social issues like abortion and gay marriage, he’s mostly been a vote for the conservative side of the court in his 30 years there.

Thus his retirement won’t represent a fundamental rebalancing of the court’s ideology, since the court is already basically 5-4 on the right-hand side.

No matter. Kennedy did vote with the liberals three times in 30 years when it counted — on abortion and gay marriage — and so it would make sense they’d mourn his loss. Only that’s not what they did.

Mostly they condemned him for retiring at 81 rather than sticking it out to see if a president they liked would be elected in 2020 and would replace him with someone they also liked.

They might have considered instead whether Ginsburg should have retired in 2014, the year she turned 81, and thereby given Barack Obama a chance to fill her seat with someone who could serve for decades longer rather than stay on the court into her mid-80s — since it has become actuarially more likely she will be replaced by none other than Trump.

But if you’re a liberal you don’t talk smack about the awesome RGB, do you?

First-of-all, I think she's from Yugoslavia----AFAIK, not even a part of the old USSR. Secondly, she's a CITIZEN----so, NOT "undocumented".

Please don't let your hatred for President Trump cloud your what is usually intelligent thinking----you're better than that.

Remember, Trump only wants to stop the illegal immigrants

But he also likes to change the definition of who is an illegal immigrant

Some of the illegals he stopped would have legal before

"The democratic party has lost it's mind..."

OH YES...JUST the democratic party....ONLY THEM!
it's a Government FOR the people OF the people By the people!
But just the ones in two camps.

When you have a common man in office...then you will have a good president or at least you'll have had and honest chance at one.

But it won't happen will it? Electoral college anyone?

Want to change it? Protest the fact that your country doesn't listen to your voice and treats serious protests like soft
riots. Then demand a complete reform of the electoral college and... if you succeed study really really hard to work out who the most capable commander in chief would be.

it's not going to change otherwise. none of it will, it's all headed straight down the drain, it's only getting worse it has been for a pretty long time and if you take a Biiiiiig step back and mentally plot a graph of quality candidates over time then it gets super easy to judge where this thing is going just like it's super easy to judge what will happen to a toddler who is running onto a freeway.

is there really any kind of detailed criticism of individual parties that can arrive at some previously hidden magical tweak to policy that is going to be SO AWESOME it fixes the actual real problem?...(WHICH is that there aren't parties or candidates capable of really representing the population (Not really)).

I VERY much doubt it.

it's just a team sport, it's not real politics anymore.
