Despite what modern day evangelicals say about Revelations, both Martin Luther and John Calvin considered the book to be less than worthless.

And the rabbis in Israel involved in this agree with them. They are basing all of this on Old Testament prophecy.

But it would seem to me that the problem for Christians in deciding Revelation, written by John, is worthless, is basally saying the Gospel according to John is also worthless, which would essentially make the entire gospel worthless.

Really I would think the attitude to take in Christians denouncing Revelation, is to say it was all about what took place in 70 AD, instead of our future, rather than calling it worthless.

While the guy who wrote Revelations was named John, many Biblical scholars believe he was not the same John, the disciple whom Jesus loved, who wrote the fourth Gospel, and letters.

Ah so. That does indeed seem to be the case. John the Elder rather than the apostle John the Evangelist.

This could create a huge dilemma among Orthodox Jews.

Orthodox Jews would normally reject this cow stunt as pure and vile blasphemy. Definitely not accept it as a real miraculous sign.

But the trouble is this.

That's exactly how Orthodox jews reacted decades ago to the creation of the modern State of Israel itself.

The modern state of Israel created in 1947 was considered Blasphemy by the Orthodox, and they did not accept Israel as THE Israel promised to return in the Bible.

But after a few years most of the Orthodox had changed their mind "because the state of Israel is a fact on the ground so we have no choice to accept it" and began supporting Israel- in fact became Israel's most powerful voting bloc (though there is a tiny splinter sect of the Orthodox who still don't recognize Israel as anything but a blasphemy).

So..if I were an Orthodox Jew I would be stricken with a dilemma about this stunt. Its artificially pushing things along to make a prophecy come true so it cant be accepted as real. BUT folks in my sect said the same thing seventy years ago about Israel itself and changed our minds then.

The current pope is supposed to be the last. How do you bible thumpers expect that to happen? Is the world gonna end soon? Wasn't it supposed to end in 2000?

Years ago a young pious Jewish friend of a friend was talking about the ancient prophecy about "the red heifer", and I doubled over laughing because I truly thought he was putting me on. I realized later that I had gotten "heifers" confused with "Holsteins", and then I kinda felt bad about laughing at him and at his religion.

It would indeed be anachronistic for the Bible to mention "Holsteins" because that breed didn't exist until thousands of years after Biblical times (and they were first bred in the German province of Holstein which is a thousand miles from the Holy Land).But Holsteins are not the same as heifers.
