Two Americas?
...Sly, I think that you may be dramatically overestimating your party split numbers just as I felt you were when you claimed that a popular vote wouldead to " tyranny " of New York and Cufidnia single-hanxexly electing all offices (while both Florida and Texas have more population have NY, IIRC). You have a point on farming space & but, who would the red-stater extremits sell their dropd to, if they tried to starve out the blues? And the presumed blues would have all access to the Pacific Ocean, much?? of the Great Lakes, and the Atlantic at the very least above Virginia. In.
India and the original East and West Pakistan were partition Ed out of British colonial India at the cost if much murder, attack, and ethnic cleansing g. I'll assume that the partition of the USA might go less violently.
My speculative fiction concept imagined that a large disaster had happened -it refected the tension between the two USAs, but after it happened, Red and Blue relavely peacefully separate. This desire might have made Americsns fairly unpopular in the rest of the world, ind emigration to elsewhere could be hard. For more drama, the accident might have led to at least some aspects of miden tech being hurled back to 1987! ![]()

...Well, now that someone has put a new post up, and a new poster --- I'll start with my speculation for how a full split between USAB and USAR might work out.
Two introductory thoughts - One, the law of unintended consequences, - Two, the fact that there can be greater hatered WITHIN a movement than against the other side
! (in disagreement about tactics)

Now imagine the battle line formed and you see the democrats hold a few separated strongholds.
It democrats wouldn’t be satisfied with the other half not living how they do.
...In the " Two Americas " speculative fiction I was imagining that a terrible disaster of some sort happens and that leads to the AmeriPart (American Partition - Hey, we've had Brexit already, so...) happening fairly hurriedly...and with relatively little bloodshed, especially active war, unlike the horrendous partition of British colonial India into today's India and (then-) two Pakistans, which had horrific death, violence, property destruction and ethnic cleansing happen when it was carried out. I'll refer to the sf more later.
Sly, in a AmeriPart, especially more in the South/Southeastern USA,

There are two Americas now, IMO, on a cultural level or rural vs urban level. Despite that, we are still fortunate. Many other countries still don't have it as good as we have it now, even though what we have now is nowhere near perfect.
There is no guarantee that the USA we have now will exist in 20 years. And that doesn't mean that things improve if that happens. We have ceded control in some aspects to the world/United Nations. The Federal Reserve Bank is not under our complete control for one example.

...Sly, I think a lot of gung-ho conservatives - Maybe more in the South (Southeast) (" The Old Confederacy ") DO want to tell people how to live!! ! Maybe not so much the PNW. And BTW, what is the specific (I guess you said this elsewhere)...Finishing this...What was the one, specific, " stroke of a pen " action that you seem to have said was done by Obama that you feel Trump rescued you from?

It democrats wouldn’t be satisfied with the other half not living how they do.
And the Republicans wouldn't be happy if they couldn't control what the other half does in the bedroom.

...Okay, let's REALLY START this! Okay?
For two, HOT-BUTTON, issues that might be seen as seperating USAB and USAR, issues that, certainly if they tried to enforce them, and one " originating " more on one side, so I'm being FAIR & BALANCED here
! !! !! !! !! !!:
ABORTION
GUNS
How illegal would abortion be made in USAR? Certainly one assumes that many in the anti-legal avaliabitity of abortion (" Pro-Life ") movement would be satisfied with nothing else but 100% illegality - they very sincerely feel that it is a horrible thing, a holocaust - while many in the pro-legal avalibility of abortion (" Pro-Choice ") movement feel that they are helping people very much by making sure that abortions are accessible. These are not positions that can " give in " to the other side very much!! ![]()
Would abortion's availibility be rolled back to the level of availability that the USA of 1958, say, had? I think they were illegal in all states upfront then - but could be approved with some working with doctors/mental health types - Obviously mostly well off & influential persons, poorer/less influential persons could not.
IIRC, the Republican Party platform has for many elections now called for the repeal of ROE V. WADE (Have they all said " make abortion 100% illegeal? Maybe not. The anti-abortion Human Life Amendment was proposed.). Would the government of USAR make abortion 100% illegal? If they did not, I can imagine many pro-lifers feeling that they had made " a bargain with hell ".
Would USAR include some sort of rape/abortion exception? Some pro-lifers will argue " It's not the baby's fault! ". What about the cases when the pregnancy goes wrong and the baby's birth definitely or very likely will kill or greatly inure the mother? Or d/vl will be born dead or die just after?
It would seemingly have to be a consistent national ban across USAR - if Missisissippi made it 100% illegeal but South Dakota, say, allowed it up to six week, pro-lifers would be VERY disappointed
. And, bluntly, if USAR was dedicated to stopping all abortions - They would have to have a considerable amount of security on their borders to stop USAR citizens from leaving for abortions in USAB. If they were very dedicated to stopping all abortions if possible as a relic of the terrible old 2018 days, they would go after abortions with a modern level of technology amd far greater dedication than pre-RV.W.
How much would association with abortions be criminally sanctioned? And not only doctors ~ but people who work with doctors who do - or, say, drive someone to an abortion? What about people who share information about getting an abortion, or doing a self-made abortion?
What about women who get an abortion? Twice in the past, IIRC, Republican presidents (H.W. Bush and Trump) have backed into saying things that indicate that, in the post-ROE world they said they wanted, women who got an abortion would face some degree of punishment ~ only to back away from that later?
Would, when a powerful/well-off family's daughter is caught getting an abortion outside of USAR and comes back, how would she be prosecuted? Would USAR demand extradition of citizens who got an abortion outside of the border, wheth inside USAB or elsewhere? And, frankly, what would happen to the far larger amount of not-wanted-by-their-parents children whom the reduced, certainly, amount of abortions under the USAR regime?
There's not THAT many adoptive parents ~ even, arguably, for " healthy white newborns " (I presume that USAR would remove known or presumed LBGTI/etc. from the suitably for being adoptive parents pool, and perhaps single heterosexuals and and unmarried hetero couples). And handicapped children - For example, I am told that most Down's Syndrome children, when it it is revealed by pre-natal tests, are aborted nowadays. Would USAR at least severely restrict pre-natal testing for that reason, as India has, for another reason, restricted it there, IIRC? There would likely be a lot more orphan's institutions - I mean that more than foster parents - in USAR after a couple decades.
This is something pro-choice activists have hypothesized about a post-ROE world but, WOULD an expectant mother who lost her child, even through the pregnancy working out that way or a " not her fault " accident, be likely, at least, to be expected to prove that the child loss was that, not a sought-out abortion? And might there be a greater amount of commitment/protective custody of women seen as leading unhealthy lifestyles, whaytver that could be seen as?
Would USAR reach " a compromise " where, say, abortions are available up to six weeks and can, up to two months and provable extreme -rape-incest-mother's death circumstances after that, abortions could be obtained with two medical committee's approval? But would that enrage the very gung-ho pro-lifers? So much so that the most extreme among them might resort to violence to express their disgust with this compromise by the government of USAR?

And he feels Trump prevented that from happening.
It's understandable that that would upset him. I don't think either side truly represents his interests.

Unless you want a totalitarian dictatorship either side repersents you.
If you do then I guess it depends on what issues you want forced on everyone else.
And he feels Trump prevented that from happening.
He did and trump did.
The left to this days hasn’t let it go, us mentality I’ll aspies can own guns all because trump removed it according to them.
I like how when it’s something a liberal says it’s fact but when I say something that Obama admits and every democrat admits is true and they wanted it it’s jut thinks which implies it Isnt fact and didn’t happen.
Then why did congress and trump have to repeal it?
