It is a one of those “pick your poison” things.
First of all how do you define extremism on the rise? The theory here is the increase in right wing hate crimes and terrorism and the lethality of such conflates with rise. I have not seen evidence that the popularity of right wing extremism is increasing. Then there is the question of influence. Certainly having the President enabling it is an increase in influence. But beyound Trump, his administration, parts of Fox News and Congressional Republicans voicing elements of these views I have not seen evidence of increase in acceptence of right wing extremism in state and local governments or the culture large, if anything there is massive push back.
On the other hand while left wing terrorism is less lethal the influence of illiberal views from the left is increasing. A narrowing of what is acceptable freedom of expression has gained agency of college campuses and younger future oriented cooperations. Public shaming of people deemed to have used hate speech has really had some significant success in getting careers hurt or destroyed. AOC whose views a few years ago would be seen as extremist in an American context is a major if not the face of democratic party and an very important agenda setter.

Right-wing, left-wing, up-wing, down-wing...it doesn't matter what wing you're hanging out in. There will always be extremists ready to start some s**t. That's what we humans love to do! We're a despicable race. We'll never get past tribalism. Even if we we're all basically the same as far as skin color and culture, goes, we'd find some reason to club them upside the head with Louisville Slugger.

I believe notions that liberals are pushing conservatives into extreme thought and actions is coddling these fanatics. They are people who think their lack of success in life has more to do with growing social, political, and economic equality among racial minorities than with themselves, or is the doing of the captains of capitalism who they worship as demigods. And very likely, they've always harbored racial hate in their hearts, but didn't have the testicular fortitude to speak it publicly till now. These people are now emboldened, as they see the man in the White House as one of their own, and justify it all by saying Obama's two terms had somehow pushed them into that direction.

A lot of Trump voters voted for Obama and then Sanders. So yes, the liberal establishment pushed them to Trump. Supporting open borders and illegal wars. Destroying the working class of all colours. Stop blaming white people, stop blaming Russia, stop blaming Trump and face reality and the route causes.

Then those misled Obama voters will support the Democratic Presidential nominee since that won't be Hilary Clinton.
Besides, I'm not calling all Trump voters extremists, or even most. Those who are white nationalists see themselves as a backlash against the Obama years, and civil rights gains.
Russia hasn't been brought up in this conversation, until you introduced it on this thread.

Probably not now they realise the Democrat party has been lying to them for 3 years and spent their money on the biggest hoax in US history. It would take someone like Tulsi Gabbard to beat Trump but the psychopathic media will try to stop her as well as her own party. Flooding the country with illegal immigrants aren't "civil rights gains".

Do you realize you just said this on the internet? There are no corners on the internet. They have more "options" than 99% of people who ever lived & they CHOOSE violence.
Actually I have heard from a leftist just how bad this issue is. It forces people who may not agree with 'pronouns' and other conservative view points to be kicked off of major platforms, forcing them to only have the options to be other platforms that are known as extremist echo chambers, potentially radicalizing people.
While kicking radicals, or should I say, right wing radicals, off of public platforms allows them to build in strength rather than possibly be talked down, deradicalized.
Anyone can build their own site. Anyone who does is free to delete files & users as they choose, unless the law dictates a more concerted response.
It's not the left or right that's the problem, it's the cynical billionaires jerking both their chains in equal measure.
However I think it's important to point out the difference between punching nazis & terrorism.

I still agree with the cynical billionaire issue, but the left vs. right has some reality to it.

Only the most hard core Trump supporters, who had never voted Democrat in the first place, close their minds completely to Russian collusion. The Dems who voted for Trump because of the way Bernie had been screwed, as well as those union members in the Rustbelt, will be more than happy to come home.

Don't you just hate that?
I have come to understand that isn't exactly a clear cut thing, the private ownership and being able to kick anyone off as they please. It's very possibly going to lead to government restrictions being applied to huge public speaking platforms like Twiter, Instagram and facebook, it's a public space that has the ability to affect elections, thus it must be in line with American laws. They are censoring conservative views, as most big tech companies they have a strong left lean and their rules reflect that with hate speech rules. It is likely that government is going to step in if they continue, i'm not great at explanning it, but I could post a video of someone who can explain it quite well. I used to think the same thing, it's their platform, they can do as they please, though the ability they have to affect elections changes that. If they only mostly allow left wing individuals to talk, obviously that will drive politics to the last more. Being popular figures and politicians including the president communicate on these platforms, conservatives also have a right to be able to express their political views as well, especially since the platform can affect election outcomes.

Keep thinking that. I just watched a recent report that says Trump will likely win in 2020 because the dems getting the most attention are bring up far left policies and the labor unions strongly feel that the democrats don't seem to care about them at all.
The report stated that unless there happens to be a bad turn in economics before election time, Trump will likely win by a landslide. That was from a politico article.

The Mueller report has been made. Trump is clamoring for it to get released. This suggests to me that it probably exonerates him to an extent. Clearly his campaign had shady dealings going on, but I suspect Trump was careful enough that none of them tied back to him personally.
I have a lot of respect for Mueller, and I think it's ridiculous how he's been treated by the republicans during the process. I will believe his findings.

Abolishing the electoral voting system, identity politics, the green new deal (labor unions are strongly against, not because they are against helping the planet, more because of all the ridiculous stuff in the green new deal, including things that have nothing to do with being green. Tim Pool has commented a lot on that), they are also pushing to lower the voting age to 16, people who haven't even graduated high school. That is the report I heard from Tim Pool, and it was an article from politico. Though I have heard him in many reports saying the same thing, my memory sucks though, so I don't remember a lot of the details.
