In practical terms---yes, it was only for white males.

But there did exist the CONCEPT of freedom for all. This was a step in the right direction.

It took a long time for the PRACTICALITY to somewhat catch up with the CONCEPT.

The American revolution is insignificant in the history of philosophy, because of that. Some colony revolting, not the least because they were worried about the British spreading their ideas of abolishing slavery to their colonies.
Little changed for people in the US, from one day to the next.

The French Revolution however was a rather violent affair of going from monsrchy to republic, and turned into chaos quite quickly.
And it was copied on Haiti, where black slaves demanded freedom, equality and brotherhood.
That was new.

I don't know what Americans are supposed to be specifically delusional about, though.
In reality, we're all far worse than we think we are, and we have dark corners where we would rather not look and prefer to not even know about. And we all think we are going to be fine, while the others are going to end in misery.

i think we r heading towards a world thats even more complex than the huntington map.. the us and uk look like they are inching closer and closer to socialism while staying being polarized theres nothing u can do abt it anymore .. if that happens europe has no choice other than thinking about itself .. vietnam russia, south korea india, indonesia turkey, france china.. within america evryone thinks for themself .. every race thinks for themselve every generation thinks for themselvs every class rhinks for themselves.. nothing really matters anymore ..

Sometimes I wonder in my state...like there are some crazy diehard fossil fuel supporters here, like they have an undying loyalty to an industry that is killing the planet. Some of these people have pictures of their kids and neices, nefews plastered all over their facebook and yet they are diehard supporters of an industry that would see ecosystems and landscapes destroyed and air quality worsened all in the name of profit which will only hurt those poor children plastered across their facebook pictures. I understand some people have jobs in oil so I get they don't want the industry to be immediately banned and lose their living before they can even look to other jobs. But its like they oppose any and every regulation in regards to fossil fuel. As if, they'll be attacked by some terrible oil deity if they don't pledge their undying support.

In response to concernes about my state leasing vital habitat land for key species in the state to oil and fracking companies. People posted....drill, drill drill. drill baby drill ect...like they get a uber hard on about the idea of the state being destroyed for the profit of oil companies. I mean that would even be bad for hunters,if we f**k up the breeding grounds of deer and elk and sage grouse then that even negatively affects hunters...yet some of them are probably in the drill baby drill camp. Seeing those comments I admit it made me so mad at one point I wanted to punch my laptop...I kinda wanted to punch people through my laptop, but I calmed myself and thus my laptop screen is still alive.

Like F*ck you Big Oil, quit trying to ruin Colorado....get out! Same to all those goddamn real estate companies covering the whole front range with expensive housing developments....Its a freaking prairie there is not enough water to support all those new residents drinking water and water they will waste on their useless lawns made up of non-native grasses you goddamn real estate idiots. Also pets will be eaten, you're taking up the habitat of birds of prey...so the cute pets these people get will just become prey for them.

The modern world effectively denies the Sacred, which was the foundation of Traditional societies. Religion, when used at all, is simply a meaningless activity or a ritual. It has no real foundation in anything.

Egalitarianism is simply a lie. People are not equal. Some are fit to rule, some are fit for finance and commerce, some are fit as artists, some plow fields. Everyone is different.

And what do we need to say of democracy? According to Aristotle, it was the least worst form of government.

This fallacy is called a "Half-Truth". While it is true that we are not all the same, egalitarianism includes the principle that all people deserve equal treatment with respect to social, political, and economic affairs.According to Aristotle, democracy is rule is by and for the needy. In contrast, rule of law or aristocracy or even monarchy, where the ruler allegedly has the interest of his country at heart, are better types of government. His premise falls apart when it can be demonstrated time and again that absolute rulers rarely, if ever, have the best interests of their subjects at heart, but only their own interests -- power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, after all.

We all know that some people are afraid of being subject to women and/or minority members, and would like to see only wealthy white men in charge of everything, but that just isn't going to ever happen again.

There is no such creed as "scientism".

That's a contrived boogeyman you made up.

You cant have it both ways. The scientific method led to the modern world view in which humans are no longer the center of cosmos created only six thousand years ago. So if you want to return to that Mideaval worldview you cant claim that "there is nothing wrong with the scientific method". Either disown the Scientific Method and go back to living in Saudi Arabia, or embrace the scientific method and leave the middle ages and Saudi Arabia, and live in the modern world.

Scientism is a thing I learned about it in...I believe my second undergraduate degree. It’s like let’s say that I say something like: “Scientists have discovered that eating mushrooms every day is associated with lower body weight”.

And then maybe a person next to me might say, “But my friend Laura says that eating tomatoes are better for weight loss.”

Supposedly, most of us come away from hearing such an exchange with the idea that the new mushroom information is more trustworthy than the new information from some person named Laura. Simply because some form of the word “science” is used.

That is called “scientism” and it is a type of faith like having trust in any other authority figure/institution, like a religion, government, but also a boss or parent. Because the authority says it, it carries more weight than if a non-authority said it.
