travelling is too expensive
Yeah that immigration policy won't work. ...
All it does is put those workers in more precarious and dangerous conditions, which in turn hurts American workers across the board as health and safety regulations get looser, pay goes down, job insecurity rises and companies make higher profits.
A scumbag billionaire also makes higher profits by hiring workers from outside the country.
Is it? Well, hotel-, hostel- etc. prices have gone up, but flying is cheaper than ever. But I can't really blame the hotels and such either; living expenses have gone up too, so the hotels have to pay more for their workers and they also get bigger bills, so of course they have to raise prices in order to keep existing and not to go in debt.
And you can actually travel pretty cheap if you aren't too picky and actually put some effort in to looking for good deals... for starters, bus is often cheaper than train (where I'm from at least.) Ship is often cheaper than plane (assuming you have time to take a ship; it's much slower.) And when it comes to where you stay, there's often a huge difference between picking a basic hotel room or finding a hostel. Or picking from city center vs. a little further away. Also, one shouldn't just pick the first good one they come across; they should compare prices. Traveling outside the local holiday season helps you to get cheaper prices, too.
As for small income people (like me), traveling is still often possible, though not as often or as easily as it is for well earning people. Like I said, comparing prices is important, but the way you live your everyday life affects your budget, too. Personally, I write down every cent I spend, keeping a strict eye on how much money I've used and where I can save from if needed. One can save up a lot in a year by making smart choises in their everyday life... but of course, if one's not willing to give up anything in their life and putting in effort to learn a new way of life, even temporarily to save for one trip, then there's really no helping them.
And yes, I do realize that there are some who really have such a small income that they can't save money without risking their health (like saving too much from food or house warming expenses), but there are also many who could if they just put in the effort to learn how. I've had people who earn a lot more than me wonder how I can do this and that despite only being a part time worker, and I've explained my budgeting system to them. They ask me that isn't it too stressing, but I find it rewarding since it's the thing that makes it possible for me to travel from time to time.
To avoid the cost and hassle of parking in Boston, I'd park in Cambridge and walk into Boston for the day.
I've visited the three East Coast cities by train and public transportation.
I can’t afford to go to those places. The car rental was to rent one locally and five somewhere in my state for s day. But even that’s cost $300ish which is far too much for one days activities

I’d have to cut everything and save for years to afford a trip. And that money would be same as buying s car. I’d been trying to save but at this rate it’d take me 30 years and I can’t handle the hurt of saving thst long nor will I likely have a job after this year.
$1000 doesn’t get me anywhere for a trip. And these travel company’s bait and switch .
Vacation to dc for $689. Oh cool I could do thst then you go to their site and it says starting at $689 but the cheapest package is $4,000 ish. So no there isn’t any starting package for $689 they made it up to lure people in then hopefully get them to charge without realiszing.
Vacation to Seattle just state above me, 7 hours a way, $1986
For 3 days. f**k that.

What is the purpose of travel? For most people, it is to see something different and try new things.
If you live in the USA you don't need to travel halfway around the country to do that!
If you live in a rural town you just need to visit the nearest big city! There are a ton of different places within two hours driving distance from where I live. There are also places that I visit by taking the train and public transportation.
That's strange; it's 894,05 in euros according to the calculator I used. For me that's plenty and I can get a very nice trip with a money like that... I mean sure, going abroad from USA is more expensive than it is from a small country where I'm from since there are many other countries closer, but is it really that expensive to travel inside of USA? In your message you mentioned travel deals by travel companies, but most of the time those are a lot more expensive than planning a trip on your own (but that does, of course, take more effort.) Choose a cheap way to move from here, a cheap hostel from there... I bet one can get a nice trip inside of USA with thousand dollars... this is, of course, assuming that they aren't all or nothing -type of people who want a very nice hotel and expensive activities or don't want to go at all. If you're interested in traveling then I recommend that you forget travel companies and take a look at all the necessary stuff on your own; you might be surprised about how many good deals there are out there.
Also, if you can't do this because you lack the skill to organize such things (it took me a long time to learn, too), you could just ask help from a family member or someone else with the reservations and such.
My last vacation was three days in Cape Cod, a popular destination for those of us living in New England. I went off season, so two nights at a motel was just $120. Visited the Sandwich glass museum and shopped for chocolate! I ate all sorts of fresh seafood at reasonable prices. ![]()
Traffic is much more reasonable off season and the food tastes just as good.

nearest big city to me [seattle] is most of a day's drive. it would be much more than just a single-day trip.
Two cheap ways to travel are via bicycle or bus. I can't do the bicycle and most Aspies can't do either, but bus trips can be a cheap way to do vacation travel in places that no longer have train service. Trains used to be very common in the USA before cars took over. Trains are still a popular method of travel in Europe and the Northeastern USA.
Bus trips to NYC are very common around here.
There are also very cheap bus trips to casinos. I recall that there were bus trips from Philly to the Atlantic City casinos. You could just hang out on the beach/boardwalk instead of gambling.

I agree. Traveling is way too expensive. That's my only one root of jealousy. All the people who are middle class or higher get to travel the world. I've never been on a trip outside of North America and it drives me bananas. I've wasted money on scratch tickets and lotto tickets trying to win just so I can travel with the best of them. All the rich little NTs get to travel. All they have to do is smile and than they're given a job that pays enough to afford them such luxurious pleasures.

I won’t stay in a hostel with other people nope. I’m a germ freak. Hotels are $200 a night for 3 star hotel in Portland. Not thst I’ve ever seen hostel, i dont think they’re big here like in Europe.
Something I’m worried about is timing the train , I fear I’d miss my train home. I’ve never used pubic transit elsewhere.
For me I want to go somewhere different. I’ve neber left my city since high school. I feel empty, maybe a trip would help. It’d been cool to travel to Disney world or something but it’s expensive. I’d love to seen Washington DC. I’ve neber experienced anything, neber flown, never been on train.

I don’t own a car, and there’s not much exciting near by, I live in Oregon not east coast.
