Can Enlightenment Lead To "Superpowers"?

One thing I'd add to this, controversial or otherwise I'll plant a flag in the ground on this - I think we can be reasonably certain that kundalini is a real phenomena. Even that component alone suggests that you have a building material or a catalyst where you can budget to rebuild certain pathways, your mind can get under your own rafters better and you quite likely can start shifting your biology in ways additional to the typical mind/epigenetics connection.

How far that added factor goes or how much boost you can give your system, whether you can have intense improvements in your lifetime or whether it's just too gradual for that, it's hard to say and being that I've only had occasional upwellings it's tough to pluck it out of my normal inner environment when it's not doing something highly unusual like setting my spine on fire.

Out of all of the content in the occult world, internal alchemy and evocation seem like they're the most interesting. Evocation because you're simply interacting with what's quite likely already there with or without you undergoing major changes (potential for mentorship and/or potential for extra thrusting blocks or gainful tests being added to your life on request), and internal alchemy because it's the really brutal, effortful, MMO-hacking aspect where - like heavy athletic training over long periods of time - it's credible that such managed and persistent efforts would pay off in any number of ways.

The challenge I issued to Christians above goes for any other belief system — let’s see a demonstration of your “superpowers”.

I could make people disappear!

When I was preaching, I’d hear people talking in houses, and then, when I knocked on the door, it’d be total silence. This is clearly an example of a magical superpower!

Most of my card readings have made some pretty accurate predictions so far, like that mess we are getting into with Iran. ♤♡ ◇♧

America has been in a mess with Iran ever since the American government backed the government of the Shah of Iran.

My cards predicted we were going to war with them, and the next thing I know I read on the news about Trump cancelling an attack on Iran at the last minute.

Concidence?

We're not officially in a war yet, but I bet we're headed that way any day now.

I think enlightenment is real in some way, but superpowers like the ones you mentioned definitely not.

Enlightenment means insight/understanding, so people selling enlightenment should have the insight/understanding to explain how these "superpowers" work... but that's usually when reason goes out of the window and a big dose of emotive woo is applied.

I accept that mindfullness and other meditative techniques can improve a neurotypical practicioners mental wellbeing, which can lead to improvements in other parts of their life, but any mention of "superpowers" (or any anecdotal claims such as testimonies) is irrational.

Initially I thought of The Enlightenment, and had a mental image of Sir Issac Newton as Superman... both discovering and defying gravity.

Where are all of the super-people?

Either enlightenment does not lead to superpowers, or no one is truly enlightened yet.

Maybe nobody ever will be? Maybe it's all just a load of s**t?

No one person has "superpowers."

I think you are both correct.

It's a load of crap----yes.

But it can be a useful load of crap----something to shoot for. Something to aspire to. Even if you don't quite make it, at least you're striving towards it.

I used to be an amateur astrologer and that definitely gave me superpowers. I used to go to the pub an a Friday night (30 years ago now) and I'd wake up next day to find pieces of paper in my pockets. The papers would have a girl's name, a phone number and date/time/place of birth written it. Then of course I could put up their chart and see if they would be a suitable match before phoning them.
Everybody likes talking about themselves, so most people are willing to give you this information for a personal chart reading.
I must point out, any attempt to use this to your own advantage could result in bad karma...

Projection galore

Self-control is not a super-power. Anybody ("ordinary folks") can develop this skill, some have to put in more effort than others.

Speaking of projecting, I don't have to use any self-control to resist the pictures you posted, neither presents any interest or temptation to me. There are plenty of people around who aren't money-crazed or gorging themselves.



As for the OP, no. "Enlightenment" is already a vague enough and highly subjective term and only seems to lead to a "super-ego" in some people

Siddhis (Sanskrit: सिद्धि siddhi; fulfillment, accomplishment) are spiritual, paranormal, supernatural, or otherwise magical powers, abilities, and attainments that are the products of spiritual advancement through sādhanās such as meditation and yoga.[1] The term ṛddhi (Pali: iddhi, "psychic powers") is often used interchangeably in Buddhism.
