How do you deal with the constant pressure from the media and people in general for you to believe in the fairy tale called god?

I am no longer atheist, but I tried giving up religion for a few years and belief in G-d for a few months. I thought that it was irrational and that relying on actions and consequences only would spur me to action when it came to what I believe in politically (the environment, that is). Basically, my “religion” was actions, consequences, politics, and ethics, until it got to be too much to handle and I went back to religion. Sure, I know it’s not rational, but it’s a crutch I need to do what’s right.

Anyway, I dealt with religion all around by telling myself that ethics, politics, actions, and consequences were what mattered.

I guarantee that if I start a thread called To the Christians that there would be at least a few atheists that would respond.
