Some of our newspapers here in the UK are pretty despicable.

You really can't go anywhere without a car.

Every single kid I grew up with has left and gone at least halfway across the country where the jobs and nearly everything else isn't third-rate, while I'm still stuck here, living in isolation.

People don't care about the environment and deny climate change.

K-Mart, Zellers and Target all closing down for good.

I hate it that here violent criminals and sexual offenders get very light punishments. They're working on fixing the later a little bit, but still.

I understand, it's strange to me that in countries like Japan, Canada, or the UK a serial killer might actually get out of prison after serving less than 10 years. :|

What is this? Are we in some kind of wacked-out American cartoon or something, like we're in Family Guy and American Dad?

In Finland, the max punishment is "whole life sentence", but the max of that is actually 12 years, so it's no whole life sentence at all. There have been quite a few people who've ended up in prison "for life", gotten out and then gotten there "for life" again.

This stuff is honestly one of the very few things that USA definitely has better than Finland. We need a real whole life sentence here, too!

Another thing I hate about the US is our obsession with war and violence. We Americans really revel in thr idea of shooting and killing things, don't we? It shows in our stupid Hollywood movies, our video games, and the cheap little plastic toys made in China (by less fortunate Asian child slaves) our children play with. Every time I see a sign saying "Support our Veterans" I'm thinking what we REALLY mean is "Support these never-ending BS wars that our destroying other people's countries! Or you are un-American!"

What would a suitable response to Pearl Harbor have been? The US had stayed out of WW2 up until that point. We were bothering no one and Japan attacked. What do you think we should have done instead?

Sacriface our GI's who are supposed to die for our country to win the war the old fashion way instead of cheating by burning civilians to death with radiation poisoning.

You know something? I REALLY hate listening to Americans come up with every excuse in the book about why bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the best thing in the world to do. "Those Japs deserved it for Pearl Harbor blah blah blah! We saved so many American soldier's lives blah blah blah! We rebuilt Japan so they should be thanking us for bombing them blah blah blah!"

Being the first country to demonstrate the weapon that can potentially destroy the world someday is nothing to be proud of.
