Hypocrisy is not restricted to religious people.
Any moral system can be used in hypocritical ways, deities are irrelevant to this.

I find it quite hypocritical that European governments agree on restrictive environmental protection laws and workers' laws and then we outsource almost all production to countries without such laws.
It has nothing to do with religion but it's hypocritical as hell.

I wasn't restricting the use of the word hypocritical to religious, I was simply stating that there was a thin line when speaking in terms of religion that is drawn between being pious and hypocritical.

I have seen multiple explanations of how the law and political parties are hypocritical. Case in point, look at the overall strategy many Republicans use on value of life. They are completely against killing a fetus, but all in favor of ending lives for various other reasons, such as self defense, capital punishment, etc.
