Conservatives are always pro-Trump

Keep in mind that Trump is hardly a conservative. In many ways, he is very much a radical.

Conservatism is going to look 'radical' in the present age and it will seem 'radical' in all the newspapers with any fashionable traits to them, but conservatism, like liberalism, has to be judged not on 'radical' or 'sensible,' but upon Right and Wrong. This implies the existence of objective reality.

Quite frankly I no longer care whether the politicians cut their own throats or those of their opponents. I'm a Catholic who happens to be an American, not an American who happens to be a Catholic. (Catholicism is a choice; American citizenship is a circumstance of birth.) To me it is religion that I use to make my decisions, as I like to make them myself, not letting the rising scum of government make them for me.

Conservatism isn't radical. It is quite the opposite of radical. Trump is a radical, not a Conservative.

Essentially, a Conservative is a person who holds the great institutions such as government and religion and society itself in high esteem. A Conservative is someone who doesn't like change and hates the idea of making large, radical changes. Large change is not good -- either leave it alone or make only small tweaks. The last thing that a Conservative wants to do is to disrupt what already works. That it might possibly work much better doesn't matter -- it already works and that is enough. They want to conserve, not rebuild.

Real Conservatives don't like change.

Take the 1960s, for example. We had race protests and war protests. What these protests had in common was a strong desire to disrupt government and society in order to make radical changes for their causes. Conservatives hated this with a passion -- the last thing Conservatives wanted was disruption and change. Things worked well enough and didn't need to be changed.

Conservatives don't think much of the hippies -- they were immoral and used drugs and talked about a much different society than what existed.

Communism wants to tear down the current social order and replace it with a completely different social order. To a Conservative, this is a horrific idea -- things should be left as they are. Naturally, the completely different social order the Communists desire is one that eliminates Conservatism entirely.

Conservatives generally are pro-life. That shouldn't be surprising for someone who places a high value on their religion and on morals.

If you want to nominate Conservatives as federal and Supreme Court judges, it is important to consider their decisions in the past. It is probably more important, though, to consider their attitudes toward the great institutions. You could probably do best by making sure that anyone you nominate is a solid and active member in their local church such as being on the church board or serving as a deacon in the church. It is not particularly important to believe in God -- the real importance is great influence of the institution of religion in establishing the social order. Look for someone with a strong moral compass.

Conservatism is about preserving the establishment.

Look at what Trump and his fanboys want to do -- they want to tear down that establishment ("drain the swamp"). They are challenging the entire bedrock of the government. They want a revolution of the government and of society on their terms. There is nothing Conservative about them except some misleading labels that makes them think that they are Conservative.

Trump is the least Conservative of all. He doesn't have much, if any, in the way of morals. If you look at his life, he has hardly been an example of virtue and is proud of it.

Right and wrong? "Right" is preserving the established social order and our great institutions. "Wrong" is challenging that order and those institutions.

One other thing -- populism is never Conservative. Any populist movement is one that challenges society, not supports it. There is absolutely nothing Conservative about populism. To a real Conservative, populism is a very dangerous thing.

And I'm right there with you. Can't say I agree with absolutely everything but at least you've the guts to say it and the civility to say it well. More power to you!

All the government wants to do with your tax dollars is kill people. Everything else is merely housekeeping by American center right values.

Democrats are center right & Trump is cashing in on pretending to be extreme right, the truth is that none of them give a s**t about any of us or our political leanings. They only support the two party system because diametrically opposed factions are too loud to ignore & too complicated to deconstruct.

If you don't see this obvious fact, someone succeeded in buying your vote from you.
