Why don't you ask Him?

Obviously he already did, and obviously God gave him no answer.

Because I've been really busy. Be patient, I'll get to it soon.

If it is true that he is punishing us for sin, then I hope and pray everyone stops sinning, whatever it is. I hope God spares us of the "end-times" in my lifetime.

Not obvious at all.  Maybe he didn't ask, so G^D never heard him.  Maybe he asked, and G^D is ignoring him.

How about this:
"When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."  That's from 2nd Chronicles, chapter 7, verses 13 and 14 (NIV).  But that's just the Bible, right?

Maybe all it takes is for everybody to humble themselves before G^D, pray to Him, seek Him, and turn from every sin, then G^D Himself will drive the plague away.  But that would mean everybody -- there is no "herd immunity" in this context -- and maybe He is just "culling the herd". Maybe.

The alternative would likely be to eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die.

But that's all religious nonsense, right?  Even if there is a G^D, He's going to do whatever you tell Him to do, and just because you want it done, right?

Right?

Why doesn't god say in a booming voice he won't let coronavirus spread in church?

I'm not sure if God exists but I disagree with you on this one

God's getting even for all the abortions that have taken place in the world over the past 55 years.

Have you asked Him to destroy the coronavirus?

While you're at it, why not ask him why he created it in the first place.

Did you ask the right God? Maybe yours is one of those religions that were merely made up by some guy with epileptic seizures?

So true.

Hmmm, do you see it that way?
More like people have different priorities.

It may basically boils down to; being clumsy and spilt some milk, then ask why did god let that happen and didn't prevent it?
Would you rather call out this idea of a god to come down here to this plane of existence, and clean the mess that clumsy person made? Why not instead make that clumsy person or yourself just grab a rug and clean up the mess, and maybe stop being clumsy or be more careful next time? Sure a person could do that, yet...

Can't humans as a collective whole do that? I dunno.

I'd rather think 'god' gave human civilization a break. Yet the human mind have different ideas.
And maybe giving the world a break against human activities in some ways, because humans are paying the price against nature at certain ways?

While there is no shame in people who would choose to panic about their livelihood and 'normalcy'...
Even said 'normalcy' is bad for the human health overall AND causes problems -- that includes coronavirus itself and worse -- to start with? What do you expect?

That inspires another question: Why did god make clumsy people?

Because there is no god. If there was, who would want to believe in a god that allowed this pandemic to happen? Not to mention all the many other plagues and pandemics that have occurred since the beginning of human history that infected and killed many more people? Yellow fever, cholera, Spanish flu, the Black Death...seems like there hasn't been a time in history when the human race wasn't going through some sort of plague somewhere in the world.

Humans are just pathetic and weak.

Agreed.

Is it growing "exponentially"? 8O

If this "God" person (or spirit, whatever it is) is real and has sent this virus to destroy some of humankind, I'm guessing that the reason would be to decrease the population a bit. This world is extremely overpopulated and that itself causes problems. Ever heard people say "we need a new plague!"? That's "God" taking that expression too literally.

Well, this coronavirus might as well be a bubonic plague, as the whole world is acting like it is, by all these lockdowns, stock-piling, isolation, laying people off and harming the future economy.

Apparently, god hates older people the most. 8O

No hurry.
I'm hanging on by a thread, not this one, but I hear that the guy in the next room won't be needing it soon and I'm next in line.

I think you are confusing "G^D" with the ccp.

I've gotta to James Lovelock on this one.

Corona virus is the planet's way of saying 'I love you but - you're killin' me Smalls...' to its most advanced species which seems to be both cannibalizing the biosphere at an unsustainable rate and turning whatever it can, through economic activity, into trinkets.

So two problems come up - one that we're stripping our substrate, the other that we've gotten way out over our skis (thinking about JIT supply chains and neoliberal globalism) in terms of being hyperadapted to pristine conditions with no resiliency planning whatsoever to anything like volcanic events, comet strikes, or even solar flares considering our electric infrastructure. We're a race that gets really stupid and myopic when the Darwinian fitness run means run as fast and as mindlessly at maximum productivity without plan or contingency - otherwise another ape will cut your throat.

So in that sense - Covid is a love-tap. If the planet really wanted to punish our species it would be far worse than anything an undercooked bat could deliver.

I was really hoping James Lovelock might comment about Covid, so far nothing yet.

However it looks like a journalist decided to talk about viewing Covid-19 in light of the views that James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis had:

God IS trying to destroy coronavirus. Here's his prophet, Kenneth Copeland, bringing the wrath of God upon Covid-19.
