I couldn't care less about these sheeple. Less moronic Bible-thumpers to worry about.

All sardonic joking aside, this is actually very sad because it means even more people are going to get sick and die and calling them a bunch of sheep and idiots is only going to make them rebel against logic and reasoning even more. :(

That would be the tragedy of this type of situation, a large number of simple, decent, trusting people led astray by irresponsible leaders.

It's sort of a win-win situation no matter how they look at it.

Just to clarify, this wasn't a serious post. It was meant as a joke based partly on social media posts claiming that atheist China created the virus as a bioweapon to wage war against religions, weaken Western civilization, and take over the world. I apologize if it was in bad taste. Most don't think that way, except for perhaps a small amount of extremists who get an undeserved amount of media attention. The majority have taken proper measures to protect themselves. I have great respect for the many religious communities who dedicate their lives to helping the needy and making the world a better place.

If they're that hostile to reason and objective fact maybe we should just let natural selection do it's job (and Make America Great Again).

Additionally I must point out that I thought we were all agreed that people who are triggered by being mocked are lefty snowflake millennials who need to get a grip. :P

In my opinion it is like that big family gathering for a birthday in LA that got busted up by the cops.

I know the local church I am familiar with are like family. It's nearly 80 years old. Elderly members have been attening it since they were born. Easter is an important time to them as a church family. Now they did not get together for Easter as far as I know. But I am sure they badly wanted to. The church expects a time when gathering will become illegal like it is in China. So that is why there is natural opposition and even defiance to being told they can't. The level of prejudice I see progressives level at the Christians is the same as Islamaphobia. It's full of the same kind of stereotyping and ignorance.

I don't agree with their religion, that is no secret. But the reason I don't want them to gather is because they will get sick and could get other people sick. I am not looking at it like 'oh what a great way to kill their faith' but its seriously unsafe for large crowds with a lot of elderely members to gather. Like I want those people to stay safe, they don't need to gather in church to keep their faith or whatever so its sh***y for any church to be encouraging in person worship at least if they care about their congregation. Everyone has a right to practice their religion and worship the way they choose so long as it's not hurting anything, but in a pandemic gathering in church settings is dangerous.

I mean even in their own scriptures if I recall there was a bit about how you don't need a physical church or gathering, you just have to have the faith. So if its more dangerous to go to church congregations should be encouraging that passage...like its not the building or gathered congregation that matters, its the faith they have inside. I don't follow the beliefs anymore but even within the beliefs there are passages they could talk about that could encourage worshiping outside of church rather than gathering and risking their health. Like they don't need to physically go to church to maintain their christianity.

I guess my point is I am liberal yes...but I am not hoping for doom upon all the christians, its just with this pandemic if they keep gathering in church it puts them at a higher risk for getting and spreading the virus.

I feel compelled to mention that in addition to my own church and my own Christian friends, I follow large networks of national churches and Christian organizations and I have come across absolutely *nobody* who feels their "religious freedom" is being infringed by the shutdown. They're certainly bummed out about it, but literally everybody's been taking the coronavirus very seriously and dutifully follow the established health guidelines. I've honestly yet to see anybody on my side of the faith spectrum - even strangers commenting on social media posts - even suggest gatherings at this time, let alone promote any conspiracy theories.

Fundamentalists are a minority within Christianity, they just happen to yell the loudest and attract the most media attention. A few loudmouth crackpots violating the law is certainly more newsworthy than the millions and millions of sensible congregations who are sensibly following the rules.
