If youngsters are brats then I'll call them brats.

I'm in the nice in between age anyway Too old to be a youngster, too young to be middle aged.

Brats isn't really the opposite of old creeps. Chavvy dangerous teenagers is. It makes sense to fear younger, stronger boys in gangs.

Brats is just annoying little kids.

Racism = just against ethnic minorities or those in colonised nations who've been colonised.
Classism = just against the working class
Ageism = something everyone can experience. Sometimes someone can be too young and too old at the same time, depending on who asks. There's no oppressed class, or if there are then there's infinite ones from babyhood to the oldest person on earth.

A 50 yo might consider me 'a millennial who's ruining everything' and a 15 yo might consider me 'an adult who just doesn't get it!'

Being age appropriate is important and part of that is knowing when it's inappropriate to hit on someone. No, not all adults do this, but those who do are being inappropriate creeps and putting youngsters (adult teens) at risk for selfish gain. In fact those two things are linked - most people don't do it because it's inappropriate and they/we recognise that so don't do it.

It's also right for younger people to listen to the advice of older peers. Older people who are equally as well educated as them, for eg their own parents, might have good advice coming from the decades of life they experienced. Even if the younger people are adults. My mum's in her 50s and still goes to her dad for advice.

Ageism is assuming the older person is not capable of being with it, is the person worth sacrificing in a triage situation not as an individual but because of their age demographic. Ageism is an essential feature of American culture.

It's making assumptions based on age. Any assumptions.

Calling it a prejudice is acting like as if it mattered as little as race does in terms of determining personality, what's appropriate etc.

I don't think so. Or at least it's more like gender or ethnic group/culture in terms of how it affects cultural factors/mental factors on an individual than it is like sex (privates) or skin colour.

People will always learn more in life than they knew as babies. More and more stuff unless/until they get something that damages their brain.

It's not sexist/transphobic to say people with XY chromosomes can't carry babies. It's not racist to say white people's skin burns more easily.

Also I'm not American but the reason why your society skews so much towards the young is because it values beauty and productivity above wisdom.

Both valuing the youth's beauty and valuing the old's wisdom would be a form of ageism.

Since it's just assuming that age groups have different properties.

It's a fair assumption that older people cost a company more in health care costs.

So, in the US, a company would likely favor a younger worker.

That's the problem with commodified healthcare.

The 'customers' who need the 'product' the most are those who can't get it as easily: the extremely disabled, the very young (I had many more doctor appointments as a kid than as an adult) and the very old are all less likely to be good at working esp physical jobs (my stepdad was 75 when he retired but that's not a physical labour job).
