Why do so many immigrants come to the US if it's racist?

No country has unlimited immigration so liberal parties set economically motivated priorities when deciding who can come in. Socialists might do it differently but conservatives typically just want to shut it down as much as possible.

Which bloc sounds like they're the most motivated by xenophobia to you?

perhaps in some cases they also figure they have their own family, friends with them.
as well as other people in the US that aren't racist.

They come for the freedom of speech, freedom of thought, a tolerant society and for the hotdogs.

The answer:

Because the United States, historically since about World War 2, has claimed some kind of "moral authority" over the rest of the world.

The rest of the world wants the United States to "put its money where it's mouth is," so to speak. So they judge us harsher than a place like Canada.

You can get better versions of hot dogs in Germany...

There are examples of racism in every multicultural community.

Not really. It shows there's a massive void between how America portrays itself internationally, and what it's actually like.

The land of opportunity, the land of the free, blah blah blah.

Cultural indoctrination is nothing new, but the reality gap is particularly huge with American propaganda at the moment.

Racism is all over the place. It's not unique to the US. If you came from Mexico, then there was plenty of racism in Mexico already. It's just trading one group looking down on you for another.

Those who are subjected to racism, in my experience, take it as a given. It's expected. Coming to America may mean you have to live near someone more racist, but it beats living near cartel members who will dump you in a ditch if you look at them the wrong way or warlords who will massacre your community for one reason or another.

Racism is a serious problem in America, but the economic and political factors that drive people to come here are greater than the racism that would deter them from coming here.

There seems to be a lot of people denying the existence of racism in America in this thread. It's existence is quite obvious, not just through the data, but through lived experience. Hell, the fact that covid has been more lethal for minorities in America highlights the disadvantages they have been telling us about for years.

I remember when I was working with a temp agency. I was taking a ride with the guy that hired us to unload some stuff. We were two white guys, alone. He then started talking to me about how "the globalists" are trying to import minorities into Western countries so that they could replace white people. This required no prompting from me, and he was not the first to share worries about minorities with me. I'd be amazed if you're white in America and have never experienced that kind of interaction, where another white person assumes they can be racist around you because you are a fellow white person. Even in parts of the country that are considered more "woke" you can find plenty of white people with similar anxieties. The loud and open racists are mostly gone, but that's just because they don't say the quiet part out loud anymore.

If that's even true about covid, there could be multiple reasons for it. There are diseases and health issues that disproportionately affect white people too, such as cystic fibrosis and fentanyl deaths.



So, basically we can conclude that the group anxieties of white people are "racism" and the group anxieties of non-white people are "anti-racism". Got it.

Oh okay, it's just when I talk to immigrants I know about where they are from and what they did back in their own countries, their lives did not seem that bad at all actually. One guy I know was part of the government and had a high ranking government job. Now, immigrated to Canada, he is a low level factory worker who can't afford to retire. So I don't understand why he would choose to give up a government job where he seemed to be on top, and trade it in to be on the bottom.

Unless a lot of immigrants leave a out when they talk about themselves.

Because US is a free country where we are allowed to believe anything we want and have our own religion or no religion without getting punished by law. Plus it's better to be poor in the US than in 3rd world countries because even the poor have basic housing and a running fridge and water and electric and we have welfare programs for low income people. We don't have any restrictions like the UK does and Canada and Australia. You basically have to be rich to move to those countries or just simply be married to someone who is from there. That is the case in the UK anyway.

Plus even if we are a wage labor country and a have slave wages, this wouldn't be any different to those from 3rd world countries because this is the norm to them and the US is better than where they are from. They are thankful for what they can have here they wouldn't be able to have back in their home country.

It’s hard to immigrate to the US, too.....similar to the UK, Australia, etc.

There are places in the world where people with “government jobs” might not get paid every month. These people have to live, at times, within the “underground economy” of that country.

They’d rather be a dishwasher in Dallas making consistent wages than a government worker in Nigeria who doesn’t get paid every month.

You have PhDs sometimes driving Uber in NYC or Toronto.

Because their countries are a lot more racist than US is. Think of "untouchables" in India. That seems a lot more racist than anything you would see in the US. Yet nobody talks about India being racist, people only talk about US being racist.

Ironically, the very fact that there is so much talk about US being racist is an indication that it is not so racist. Because the people that like to talk about it are the liberals.

If you’re a black person getting stopped and frisked for no reason by the cops, you can feel like you’re the victim of racism.

How would you feel if you were stopped and frisked for looking like a nerd?

Once again, are other countries any better in this regard? I doubt it.

As you can see by that map, America is one of the less racist countries.

The countries that are less racist than America are pretty much Canada and some of Western Europe. And those are not the immigrants talked about in OP.
