What are you talking about?  The "Holy" Roman Catholic Church is already "gay"!

Its leaders just refuse to admit it.

Gays already run the Vatican. So...you want straight folks to start a hetero version of the RCC that pretends to be gay, to compete with the existing version -which pretends to be hetero but is really gay?

It would involve to many contradictions. Clergy and members of the Catholic hierarchy would have to leave the existing church to join this new church, and come out of the closet, but they would loose power that they had in the old church (gain rights but loose power).

Then there is the issue of pedophile priests. In this new church it would be okay to be a gay lay person, but would priests still have to celibate? If not then presumably it also be alright for priests to marry, and okay to have same sex marriages with same sex adult partners- for parishoners and priests alike. But not okay to have sex with children (same or opposite sex).So a pedophile priest couldnt join, and would have to...remain underwraps in the existing RCC. Making my head spin the think about it.

But also...a Catholic church (or any Christian church) that allowed homosexuality would not be a Catholic, or Christian, church any longer -by definition.

Is that not so?

Or is there some way around that by reinterpreting scripture?

What exactly is the Catholic church doing to mass discriminate against homosexuals and other LGBT besides not allowing them to marry or serve positions in their church?

His Popeliness signed a document stating that the RCC would not "bless" same-sex marriages.

... as if that would stop LGBTQ+ Catholics from receiving a Unitarian "Blessing".

Doesn't matter to me, I actually believe the Catholic church should be allowed to make that decision.

I myself am no longer practicing any religion and I don't have any problem with LGBT+ groups of people. But churches should be still allowed to decide who should and should not marry based on their principles. Doesn't mean that they can't get married outside that religion.

Just a quick note. Yesterday I did do a search on scriptures that forbids homosexuality.
And there were some.

That said, there is an argument that a lot of the things JC introduced changed what was said in the old testament.
And as the emphasis for Christians is on the New Testament works, with the New Testament being open to interpretation due to being a collection of works which offer numerous view points (catholic meaning universal)

Then I would say that there is an argument to say that if you refer to the most important teaching of JC
i.e. love thy neighbour etc. Then that surely is what Christianity is all about rather than some minor scriptures in the Old Testament or one view point among many from the new testament.

Also if you view Christianity as an apocalyptic religion as some do (the end is near, repent, prey for forgiveness and you will be saved on judgement day kind of thing), then sex really isn't that important, but repenting, preying for forgiveness and spreading the good news of Grace is, for judgement day is upon us...

So, taking that into consideration, sure. Then sure why not.

Personally, I believe that religion isn't about controlling others but more about controlling one self and leaving the judgement to God. Above all be peaceable!... God Bless!

all i know is that the devil can twist scripture to suit his purposes, see that going on in the church. kill the gays and condemn the poor to eternal hellfire [pat robertson, et al] but give a big fat excuse for the high and mighty trumpy no matter what he and his do. morally bankrupt hypocritical mammon worshippers with the devil in them IMHO. i see people like ralph reed and his ilk and can't help but think "man, you're some kinda sinner yourself!"

The current "Jeezus" is a bastard child of a union between Evangelical Christians and Republican Nationalists, and is nothing at all like the original Jesus.

I guess if people can agree, all we need is for JC to return and clarify the matters for us.
Or perhaps we need a Gay Messiah...


Otherwise, i would say...
Outside man made organisations, we can always educate ourselves and make our own choices as to how to act,
and then let God/JC etc. decide.

That is how I look at a lot of things in life, especially with regards to trivia aspects of religion,
such as minor rules or scriptures. Decide for yourself, as in the end, you will be judged based on your own actions,
not necessarily the actions of others...

As for "the devil" twisting scripture. The devil is a made up character, like the Mr Men.
Although sure, some MEN will twist whatever is there for their own purpose...
But they will be judged upon their own actions.

I would say in matters that we have no control over, where people are not breaking major laws, and that are ambiguous. Let God Judge. Instead of taking it upon ourselves to be the judge, jury and executioner.

In matters that put innocent lives and livelihoods at steak, then, intervene if possible (if wise).
