Well I could argue against that, but I will try a different approach this time...What is the right doing to bring people together? What are they doing to reach across the aisle like they complain the left and democrats aren't doing enough? I certainly don't feel welcome to the party, the left certainly seems less intimidating and more diverse.

We will have to agree to disagree. Try posing a different point of view among the left. Try suggesting that all people should be treated the same. They are so obsessed with identity politics and authoritarian top down rule that you can't reason with them.

Are you gaslighting or have you just been brainwashed by the echo chamber? :chin:

If I posted the sort of memes far-right trolls loved to share about Obama I'd be violating ToS.

The constant attempts to smear him with anti-Muslim hate speech and to insist he was 'an anti-American Muslim' are well documented; the constant claims that he was actually Kenyan and not American are well documented; if you're unaware of them you're too uninformed to comment. If you are aware of them then you're clearly not an honest actor. Either way your credibility is harmed.

If you're unaware of how broad support for Lost Cause related rhetoric is in far-right circles you're too uninformed to comment. Confederate flags are often displayed at far-right political gatherings, including Trump rallies. They get photographed so their presence is documented. Lying about this won't alter it.

One can only insist that America is NOT a Racist Country if one is either utterly ignorant of all evidence otherwise or wilfully chooses to ignore all evidence otherwise. Which is it Reynholm?

America is NOT a Racist Country (so long as you're willing to ignore and make excuses for all the racism).

How is it racist? We had a black president for 8 years. The left wants to claim that America is racist to pit Americans against each other.

I suggest you get off your political bandwagon for a minute and think solely about racism.

What measures could we use to decide whether a country is institutionally racist or not?

First of all, some context. The population of the USA is roughly as follows:
60% White (non-Hispanic)
16% Hispanic / Latino
12% Black / African American
5% Asian
1% American Indian / Alaskan Native
0.5% Pacific Islander
4.5% Other races
3% Mixed race
(I've rounded these, it doesn't quite add up to 100).

In its credit America is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world.

Now, if everything were fair and reasonable, you'd expect those proportions to also appear in measures of socio-economic success and failure, wouldn't you?

Success: employment, individual earnings, household earnings, savings, job security, access to higher education, qualifications, access to healthcare, social mobility, proportion of adults in certain professions (Law, Policing, Doctor, Dentist, Accountant, Mayor, Congressman, Stockbroker, Director, CEO and so forth), private car ownership, share holdings, home ownership vs. rental, value of pension fund, frequency of holidays and their style / cost, effectiveness of social networking, ability to engage positively with officialdom (e.g. getting planning permission, or starting a business), marriage rate, average life expectancy....

Failure: homelessness, poverty, unemployment, divorce, ill health, wage insecurity, exposure to crime / violence, Police search and arrest rate, likelyhood of imprisonment, drug addiction, gambling addiction, alcoholism, malnutrition, domestic abuse, lack of educational opportunities / qualifications, having to work multiple jobs, divorce rate, debt, lack of financial liquidity, suicide rate....

That isn't the way it works, though. White people are far more likely to be successful and far less likely to encounter failure, whichever measure you choose. Note that this does not mean non-whites cannot be successful at all, and nor does it mean that white people cannot fail - it's just a lot less likely.

Racism doesn't automatically mean people marching around in white robes with flaming crosses. For the most part it's more about having the deck already loaded in your favour if you're white, and against you if you're not. Nothing makes money like having money in the first place, because money gives you options, and an ability to capitalise on opportunities. At a very high level money gives you the opportunity to rig political and economic systems in your favour, thus excluding everyone else.

If you're born poor in a ghetto, have a poor quality education, an unstable home life, you're exposed to drugs and gangs at an early age, and no-one wants to employ you because of how you look and where you're from, it is VERY hard to get out of that. No matter how clever or pure of heart you are, because it wasn't a level playing field in the first place. But if you're born white, that's less likely to be an issue. Not impossible by any means, but it's a lot less likely you'll be refused a job, have a loan refused, be turned down by a potential landlord, or get shot.

Some of this, of course, is interwoven with economic exploitation and class divides. There are a lot of pretty poor white folk out there as well, and they're understandably unhappy about it. The con here is in the "divide and conquer" game, whereby incredibly rich white guys continue to line their own pockets while getting all the different groups of poor people to blame each other for being poor. Who is sucking the most money out of the system? I don't think it's Mexicans, or Asians, or black guys, or working class white families either.

You can tell where it's actually going from here:
USA wealth inequality

Another common bit of "smoke and mirrors" is to assume any mention of wealth inequality is automatically a criticism of private business alone. That's not true, though. It IS a criticism of monopolistic businesses, but what we're also seeing is a high degree of money-making through Government (both State and Federal) nepotism. So contracts are awarded to party donors at hugely inflated prices, supposedly on our behalf, and paid for using a mixture of our taxes and public borrowing. So if you are a rich investor, you win twice over - once from the contract with the company you have shares in, and later from the interest on the loan from the bank you have shares in. Defence spending in particular is rife with this, but it affects most other areas of Government too.

Meanwhile, if you are born white and lucky, you will be oblivious to all this. As Douglas Adams once pointed out, it's really easy to sit on a horse all day without ever stopping to wonder what the horse is thinking. But if you're the horse, you develop some pretty strong feelings about the rider after a while.

I do that quite a bit on reddit, seems more leftists agree than don't. Also authoritarian top down rule is the opposite of what most leftists are obsessed with.

Still though what is the right doing to bring people together? the question is not about the left it's about the right...

They are not "bringing people together" except to bind them all in darkness against the rest of us.

Political Bandwagon?
No matter what % of the population you identify as your race, you can make it in America. The only person keeping you down is YOU. If your ideology requires you to be a victim and requires you to believe that poverty and disenfranchisement are part of your racial/cultural identity than you are brainwashed and need to change how you think.

Pointing out that problems exist isn't choosing to be a victim. If your ideology requires you to invalidate any arguments you can't actually respond to than you are brainwashed and need to change how you think. :chin:

You’re explicitly dividing Americans and putting them against each other. That’s not what you do if you’re concerned about national unity.

We are not a "racist" country, per se, at this point---especially in a "de jure" sense. In a de facto sense, it's debatable.

Up until about 50 years ago, we were certainly quite racist in all its facets.

I feel like many Americans seek to transcend their racist past, and move on.

Obviously, we still have racists in this country----some of them of the dangerous variety. I believe most Americans believe they should all roll over and die.

You left out "trolling for attention".

Having another opinion is "trolling" only to those who cannot accept that other points of view exist.

To you, perhaps, but I am actually describing right-wing pundits and trolls who pretend that every problem they see is the fault of The Left and The Media, when the problems they cite are actually of their own making or the problems never existed in the first place.  They seem to do this as a form of hypocritical virtue-signaling that delineates "Them" from "Us" and divides the country.

You aren't America. Even if you didn't bring those things up those are common views expressed by the far-right in America. Pretending they aren't won't change that reality.

Pivoting away from ignoring reality to a tired Ben Shapiro cliché doesn't actually represent making an argument to support your assertion. All you've done so far is tried to handwave away inconvenient facts and restated your assertion.

Ignoring any facts that don't agree with your assumption and insisting that your assumption must be correct and that anything contrary to it is either people choosing victimhood or the bigotry of low expectations or some other thought-terminating cliché seems like trolling but maybe it really just is an inability to make a point that goes deeper than repeating things you've heard paid shills say. They're dishonest and their goal is to make you not think about these issues deeply and clearly they're succeeding.
