Column: Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy.
How is it going with the Oklahoma Governor's Race?

Thats not the standard conservatives are held to.
Allen West is our Larry Elder (maybe).
He's challenging Abbott for the GOP gubernatorial nomination, and he's further to the right.
The Dems have no frontrunner, and only have speculation. My hope is that Julian Castro will run and get the nomination. People have said Beto may run, but I can't stand him.
Matthew McConaughey may be running, but his party status is unknown.
Meanwhile, our lieutenant governor is even more batshit crazy than Abbott or West, or probably Elder:

How is Kevin Faulconer faring in the polls?

For example: Faulconer said he would enact his Save California Restaurants plan, which included allowing restaurants to re-open fully, a relief fund for qualifying small restaurants, and a liability shield from COVID-related lawsuits. Obviously, his priorities are with bolstering the economy, and not with improving and protecting the health of his constituents.

It's curious that the focus is on attacking this person, rather than convincing people to vote "no" on the recall, isn't it...
The focus in the state actually isn’t, however. You are seeing one article. As a resident of the state, I can say with certainty that there is very little to be seen about the potential replacement candidates, and a flood to be seen about voting “no” on the recall.
The whole thing infuriates me, to be honest. An insane waste of money and resources when we aren’t that far from the next election. The GOP is playing the odds and seeing a special recall election with a flooded field as their best chance of installing a conservative governor in a liberal state. It’s dirty politics that us taxpayers have to pay for. There are so many better ways the money could be used.

Other statements made by Larry Elder:
• "If black America were a country, it'd be the 15th wealthiest nation in the world." (False)
• "74 percent of small-business people believe that Obamacare is a bad idea." (False)
• "Paula Deen supported and campaigned for Barack Obama." (False)
• "Smart women simply overlook some boorish behavior by men. Off-color jokes and stupid remarks may be irritating, but a smart woman deals with this." (False)
• "Sexual Harassment in the workplace doesn't hold women back." (False)
• "Government should not be intruding into the relationship between an employer and an employee." (False)
• Elder called sexual assault allegations against former President Donald Trump "child's play” during a Fox News interview in 2017.
Larry Elder is a conservative radio talk show host and political commentator.
He is also a misogynistic male supremacist.
Vote "No" on the recall ballot.
At least he's not Gavin Newsom.
Gavin Newsom may be slimy, but our state is drawing an economic surplus and weathering this pandemic much better than most states. Larry Elder wouldn’t even make it past the primaries in a regular election. In this fiasco, he could become governor with support from less than 20% of the population. How that doesn’t freak people out is beyond me.

In case you aren’t aware, California already has quite a few extra grants available to restaurants and small businesses. I’m really proud of the successful pivots most of my clients in the industry have made. Amazed, really. It’s a tough industry and the pandemic sorted the strong from the weak with lightening speed.

Uh, did the GOP create California's recall system? If the GOP is such a minority, how can they recall a popular and competent governor without the votes of at least some disaffected Democrats? This reminds me of Democrats in 2016 before and after the election, first "even if Trump wins the popular vote, the Blue Wall in the Rust Belt will block him", then "the electoral college is unfair and also racist!" when the opposite happened. Change the rules or don't, but don't complain when the other team plays by them in a way you don't like.

It’s a complicated topic. The problem is a lot of people have mastered coded language that minorities understand all too well, while associates of the racist miss the racism. I’m not at all equipped to get into it any further than knowing it isn’t always as simple as it seems to you or me.
My issues with Larry Elder existed before I had any inkling what his race was. He seems to be the front runner, but with less than 20% of the vote. As I said in an earlier post, this whole election has me raging mad furious, and since you don’t live in this state, I honestly couldn’t give a #%^* who you think should be our governor.

It is a system that is ridiculously easy to play, but it’s been unchanged in the state laws for a while.
1. The threshold for triggering the recall election is a relatively small number of signatures. I think 2M. Easily accomplished even by a minority political party.
2. By setting it as a separate special election in an unusual month, they count on a majority of voters failing to vote. Either not being aware, lacking interest, or simply losing track and forgetting. Statistically, unfortunately, Democrat voters are more likely to miss off-schedule elections than Republicans.
3. The field of potential replacement candidates is some 30-40 wide. It’s a dizzying group that would require a ridiculous investment of time for most voters to understand properly, and very few resources from which to do so. Whoever gets the most votes from that crazy field becomes the next governor if the recall gets gets enough votes. This again favors conservatives who have campaigned and widely advertised their top candidates. The Democrats sit between a rock and hard place because if they advertise and support a replacement candidate they show a lack of faith in the current Democratic governor.
And that, in a nutshell, is the political play. Conservatives in California will not dispute any of it.

In 2017, 60% of small business owners want it repealed
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/05/why-60- ... ealed.html
It's very likely at least another 14% think it's a bad idea, because they want single payer health care.
It's likely higher than 74%.

Given how many people don’t know that the ACA is Obamacare (a surprising number favor the ACA but not Obamacare), all numbers thinking it’s a bad idea are suspect.

FYI I was avoiding this thread because the title alone is objectionable to me. I want to be clear I do not support the phrasing of the accusation, nor the politics of Mr. Elder. For what that isn’t worth to anyone here.

This statistic is just small business owners, not individuals.
Small business owners are directly affected by it , since it's a mandate on them.

Small business owners are people with opinions, so they qualify as individuals. While we would hope they are wiser on the definitions, given the requirements that fell on them, not all are. A very large percentage of small business owners outsource their payroll and HR to payroll payment companies like Insperity.
