When we detect aliens it'll be like a dating app. We have to really meet them to see their intentions and if interworld relationships work out. :alien:

Seems that Ken Ham's "Well informed expert" qualification is questionable.

Yes, that was sarcasm. He's mostly known for losing a debate to Bill Nye.

Not an expert in either any relevant science (like biology or astronomy), nor in theology. So that is correct. He is not an authority on any discipline that might be relevant to the question of whether or not space aliens would have souls that need to be saved.

Yes, he is known for losing a debate to Bill Nye, but the Australian is better known for being the entrepreneur who started and runs "the Ark Experience" in Kentucky. Thats the religious theme park centered on a life sized replica of Noah's ark (a big building, not an actual floatable ship). You can fork over money and stroll through the ark and see all of its exhibits. And learn about how Noah took care all of the animals (including all of the species of dinosaurs) on the ark during the Flood of the Bible.

And...you might have assumed that the dinosaurs all died in the flood (or assumed that a Biblical literalist like Haim would think that), but no. According to Haim the non avian dinosaurs all actually survived the flood ( thanks to Noah) and survived for a while AFTER the Flood. Ya learn sumpin every day!

In high school, we asked our religion teacher - catholic theologist - if a catholic can believe in aliens.
He said, when it comes to existence of extraterrestial life, why not, as long as salvation of humans was done solely by Jesus on Earth.

Then we went on a tangent about possible theological thought exchange with those aliens - that it would be probably extremely hard to understand each other, given how hard inter-religious dialogue can be on Earth.

Your Jesus sounds exactly like our Susej except for that he comes from your planet instead of ours, therefore he is an enemy of the one true god Susej and your planet will have to be annihilated. :alien:

That hundred million that went to Ham's vanity project could have been used for those honestly in need.

On the other hand...in theory it provides lots of jobs for the locals in a rather impoverished part of Appalachian Kentucky. Trouble is that attendence has been slower the predicted, and its been loosing money. The pandemic doesnt help, but it was disappointing before the pandemic.

The ark is always a bit stylized ...when depicted in children's books, and in replicas on playgrounds.

The bible describes it as just a big rectangular box. But its always stylized to look more boatlike to be recognizable as a boat in illustrations and in mock ups.

But the "bow" on ken haim's ark is ridiculous. Basically a hybrid of the bow an ancient greek galley and that of a modern supertanker.

Ancient warships , which were powered by guys pulling oars. had rams in order to ram each other in battle.

Then in the fifteenth century sailing ships took over, and warships stopped using ramming as a tactic. Cant do that with sailing ships because you will just get your rigging tangled up with that of the target ship. You had to rely on shooting cannon balls to punch holes into the other guy's hull. So ships stopped having protrusion below the waterline for the next five centuries that were the age of sail.

Then in the late nineteenth centurey they invented steam, and they invented ironclads. And for a brief period ramming was reintroduced as a naval tactic. But they also discovered that ironclads equipped with rams were more hydrodynamically efficient than those without rams. So between the world wars the US Navy pioneered the use bulbous bows (ram like protrusions below the waterline on the ship's front) on warships to make them faster even though ramming as a tactic had gone back to being outmoded by then. Then after the second world war all navies and then later most civilian merchant ships and liners also began to be built with bulbous bows the world over because of fuel economy.

But Noahs Ark was just a passive life raft without any power plant. No steam engine. No sails. And didnt even have guys pulling on oars. So it didnt need to cut through the water. And it was not a warship that needed to ram other ships. So there was no reason for Noah to stick a bulbous bow onto to it like that.

Bill Nye is the "Science Guy" on American TV. For kids. Not as heavyweight as Neil Degrasse, or Stephan Hawkings maybe.

But not a stand up comic. You may have him confused with the Fifties and Sixties stand up comic Louis Nye ( though I would be surprised if you remember Louis Nye).

Here is the "short version" of Bill Nye vs Ken Ham
