I’ve been called an SJW by a supposed centrist. :roll:

I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It says more about the people who use such terms as insults than the person they’re directed against IMO.

I will try to explain this again

What Wokeness is circa early 2020s
Woke or Wokeness is a loose term to describe a way of looking at the world. In the American context, it means.

America is a systematically racist country and has been from the get-go.

Racism and privilege are not a matter of individual circumstances but are about power dynamics. If you are white you automatically have white privilege, if you are NT you automatically have NT privilege etc. The same is true about being racist, ableist etc.

Color blindness and merit are just excuses meant to deflect from privilege and racism.

Presentism. Historical figures should be judged not by their times but by today's (meaning woke) standards.

People should be mainly judged by their groups and assumed privilege or oppression based on said groups.

Any other way of thinking or nuanced way of thinking needs to be extinguished and people who disagree with wokeness othered and canceled.

If you agree with the above woke is a good word. If you disagree it is a dirty word.

What wokeness is not
Racism is bad. (Because who can be against that except racists? right?)

Any liberal or progressive opinion snowflake MAGA's don't agree with.

Social Justice Warrior in its insult late 2010's heyday was as much a personality type(snowflake) as a worldview. Whatever you want to call people who demonstrated and rioted day after day(over a hundred straight days in Portland) being doused with pepper spray etc they ain't snowflakes.

I'm not a right-winger, but I have little time for "woke".
All too often, it is connected with self-righteousness and virtue-signalling.
The other problem is that "woke" is killing the comedy industry.

Some ppl will look for anything they consider remotely offensive.
In essence, "woke" is often weaponised and has become a means of intimidation and dominance.

It's very much an insult intended to trivialize their concerns, it doesn't matter how tough they demonstrate themselves to be, they're snowflakes because of the causes they stand up for, at least according to the same people those causes mere existence offends.

Which of course begs the question of which of these groups are the real snowflakes?

I have been on websites where the term "SJW" was banned as a pejorative.
It often is used that way.

That is ONE way of looking at it, but it is more complex than that.
You seem to be ignoring how "woke" can be weaponised, and those who do this are regarded poorly.
