Diversity vs Competence

The central issue is that it just doesn't support its thesis, that a crisis of preferring "diversity" over competence is making America less effective.
One of the more insidious aspects of this stuff is that all of the places you'd normally turn to for evidence are hopelessly compromised; the universities have completely bought in, the media won't air anything critical of diversity as a concept (both because they believe in it and because they're afraid of the activists), social media is hopeless, right wing media has its own issues, and any independent researcher who tackles it is immediately tarred as a bigot. Unless you're willing to entertain some "problematic" sources, you're not going to find anything "convincing", even if you're actually open to being convinced.
I can understand that, assuming this was true, some people might not be willing to speak out about it.
But OP is making a pretty far-fetched claim, that this is going to "destroy advanced civilisation". For that, I'm going to need more than just "well of course there's no evidence, it's a cover-up".
The most substantial piece of evidence that the article cites is a report published at the behest of Tom Cotton and Dan Crenshaw, and the article exaggerates what the report says. Can we agree that Cotton and especially Crenshaw are not people who would shy away from saying "Biden's woke Navy is putting American lives at risk by discriminating against white men"? But they don't say that, they just say "there is too much paperwork and sensitivity training".
In the UK, there was recently a scandal where the Royal Air Force was found to have briefly implemented racist and sexist hiring practices, at the expense of white men. It was covered by the entirety of the mainstream media, from the BBC to the Daily Mail. Similarly there's constant handwringing about whether reserving six-week internships for poor, disabled and ethnic minority applicants to give them a hand-up in applying for an actual job is discrimination against rich white kids. If illegal "positive discrimination" was as rife in the UK as this article is suggesting it is in the US, people would be blowing the whistle and the media would be covering it.
The US has a different history of race relations to the UK, which might create some different dynamics. But I don't think there's a shortage of people who would complain if their employers were implementing those sorts of practices, and I especially don't think the media would be shy about covering it. You have both a larger number of investigative journalists and a wider range. Fox News, for better or worse, is much more competent and relevant than its UK equivalents. You newspapers like the Washington Times, the Boston Herald, the Washington Examiner, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post, and no shortage of credible podcasts, websites, and magazines that skew to the right (Reason, National Review, the Dispatch, etc.). Heck, even outlets like the Washington Post and the NYT seem much more open to that sort of thing than, say, the Guardian in the UK, who still published the RAF story.
Is it theoretically possible that someone, somewhere, is illegally or immorally discriminating in order to benefit "diversity"? Sure. Some of it happens in plain sight. Affirmative action in college admissions is both wrong, and hurts the people it is designed to help (it's also not quite as bad as legacy admissions, which for some reason don't cause the same amount of hand-wringing). But the idea that this is sufficiently widespread and sufficiently severe to cause a civilisational collapse, or even more modest things like an increase in air traffic accidents, is something I'd need to see some serious evidence for, and the more pervasive the issue is then the less convincing I'd find "but it's all being covered up" as an explanation. People can and do use that to justify almost any premise you can think of.

Eh, I was commenting more generally on the theme than on the specific article and the claims made therein, its been on my mind a while as I do find some of the reality denial crazy making. I don't think you really grasp how deep the rot runs in some places, just to give you a local example of a related thing, my home state recently lowered the penalty for committing a drive by shooting because that's crime is disproportionately committed by black people, and so locking too many of them up for too long had bad optics for local progressives. Would you care to venture how this was covered locally, when it was covered at all? Do you think that people who are willing to go easy on drive by shooters, a particularly depraved crime due to the high danger to bystanders, would have qualms about easing up qualifications for jobs like pilots and surgeons in the name of "racial justice"? Do you think they'd be honest about it if it did cause harm?
And if FOX or some other conservative outlet covered it? "Oh, there goes FOX again with the racism", the same way anything from a right (or increasingly even center) leaning source is smugly dismissed by those who are utterly convinced of their righteousness. It's so much worse than you realize.

Ever notice how no one actually ever defends legacy admissions, and that the schools, the same ones that are fighting tooth and nail to keep affirmative action by another name, staffed by the same types of people who make the legacy comparison, could end it instantly if they wanted to? Yeah.

Some fairly obvious benefits of diversity on university campuses

Gotta hand it to the right wing. They are becoming more creative in the mischievous, diabolical and manipulative techniques to play minority groups against each other.
