You know, I think you're a little too sheltered from reality down there on that little antipodean island. If they stick a mosque at the end of your road, all the women go parading about in black sheets, nobody speaks english, and you risk being physically assaulted for displaying a xmas tree, then you'll probably change your mind about Islam.

So thats two replies where you advocated gun violence and suicide as a solution for people you dont like.

Frankly, I cannot tell you from a teenaged american right-wing gun-nut. You speak of brains being blown out, seem fixated on shooting, violence, and death. Based on your attitudes, you would be refused entry and citizenship to your beloved New Zealand, and rightly so. Your violent atavistic mindset is at odds with the cultural mindset of New Zealand.

As a virtual ambassador for your lovely country, your stated attitudes cast asperations on your lovely countries character. Shame on you. But still, New Zealand produced you, and one would assume, others that feel as you do. Suddenly New Zealand is a little less liked; a little less trusted. You sublty push the percieved flavour of NZ towards an analogue of that which you hate; America.

Bullies tend to pick on people that emulate behavior that they surpress; a cruel father might beat his son for being a weakling, and he in turn was beaten by his father for it. He grew up, masking that, and his weakling child is an affrontry, a clearly visible reminder of his own inner failings, and he must cleanse it from his sight.

You are a violent angry punk. But you know better. So when others assinine behavior acts as a mirror for your own inner failings, you protest loudly; they should blow their brains out. They should die. But that is exactly how the American and Middle Eastern Fundamentalists act towards each other.

You are no better. The OP(at least in this topic) didnt advocate violence against others as a blanket solution. You did. You are no better than they.

1/ I have a Mosque in my town, wish it was nicer, grander, mosaiced and such, love that s**t!

2/ I am often around people speaking languages I have little or no understanding of, kind of like it, it means I don't overhear and get overloaded by the conceptual noise, it becomes more like instrumental music rather than a song - brilliant, I don't want to know what other people are talking about, mixing it all up and being adaptable might be good thing.

3/ I am not a virtual ambassador for anybody, I am an individual who uses the culture I was raised within as my reference points, one of it's attributes is adaptability, we have more people leave than are born here each year so immigration is needed to maintain our critical mass, we're teetering on the brink of the third world as it is since the global free-for-all asset stripped us. Most people who come here feel pretty welcomed which is nice, it is a pity we don't manage to be a little more supportive - people who have left the bulk of their families behind and are in a strange culture can feel quite isolated.
If I was ambassador I think all ties would be cut to the US and we would work on a new axis of co-operation between countries like say, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, all the Pacific Islands, Argentina, Iran, Lebanon, kind of a grouping of all the other kids in the neighbourhood, then we would tell you guys that you aren't taking our lunch money anymore, and we don't like it when you call us n****r and my mom is not uglier than yours and what my dad earns is none of your god-damn f*****g business.

As to the question as to where I would like to live, well I have had America rammed down my throat since I was born, my family tried Canada but found the parochialism worse than here, I gagged at first but the muscle relaxants and the massaging of my throat meant I eventually swallowed enough....
Iran on the other hand sounds interesting I have known several Iraqi's, Iranians, Lebanese and Palestinian families and I found them all absolutely lovely solid people for the most part.
I have to make compromise all the time in order to fit into even my supposedly 'secular' NZ but the entire morality and legal system is Judeo Christian in it's origins so adapting to someone else's interpretation shouldn't be too hard, the music is great, the food will be a new experience, the women are magnificent and strong, the men direct and hospitable - I pick Iran hands down.
They manage their economy according to strict Islamic law so it is much more aligned to my own attitudes towards economy and community.
Persia was the first great Empire so it has an awesome history and is accessible, so there is no contest with America there, your centuries of genocide has ensured there is little left of once great civilisations and Australia was depressing enough due to the state of the first nations there, I hoped to meet my cousins, but they were all out in the boonies or living in ghettos, just like the first nations of north America.

Racist? thats interesting, to the best of my knowledge the United states alone has native born citizens from all the tribes of the earth so that would mean I hate everyone? no, I think perhaps it is more akin to some form of cultural distaste, like disliking Nazi era Germany, or apartheid South Africa - I have German friends and South Africans are alright, quite a few living here, not unlike some kiwi's, pragmatic, direct, call a spade a spade.
So OK if after that you think me racist, fine, a new thing to be accused of, but it fits into your dualistic world views and cultural blind spots.

As am American, I sometimes get asked at varying levels of good humor, how I feel about "the entire world hating us".

Fact is,

1) the entire world doesn't hate us, and

2) Those that do, generally come across like RedHanrahan, so why would I care about what they think about anything?

I don't like the idea of lots of immigrants overpopulating Britain. Immigration must be restricted. However, muslims should be free to come here, just not too many at one time. We should invest and intervene in the major sources of immigrants to improve living conditions there by a certain amount, so as to give them fewer pushing factors driving them away from their homelands.

And I had to wade into that and break things up. Hardly keeping quiet is it? Yes, mass immigration by one culture to another is going to cause problems.
Yes, some muslims are more than a little vocal about who they think should be running our countries.
Yes, our government has a serious issue with pre-emptive "anti-religious discrimination laws" that breed resentment.
