Why okay to mock stupid, but not ret*d?
One example of "controversial" stupidity is that of "isms". For instance, sexism/misogyny leads to extraordinary stupidities; men will be remarkably "stupid" about where the tea towel is in the kitchen whereas where a thingummijig is in the car would not be a problem.
Chosen stupidity, or convenient stupidity, or politically "necessary" stupidity.
How much is that kind of stupidity at the back of people's minds when laying into
completely "blameless"/"innocent"/involuntary stupidity?
How much in fact is that sort of stupidity in so many people responsible for irrational levels of rage/hostility in the face of unwilled stupidity. It seems simply unbelievable that someone would be stupid "by accident", or if they have nothing to gain by it!
Society is so hypocritical. If someone is behaving in an odd or seemingly incorrect way, you can make fun of them AS LONG AS they don't have a documented condition that is said to cause or influence them to behave that way.

Um... Why don't we not make fun of ANYONE'S disability, whether it's documented or not?
Again, it makes sense to chide someone for doing much less than their best, but it makes no sense to chide someone for doing less than someone else's best. Yet, that's what we do when we make fun of stupid people. Whoever does so on a regular basis should be willing for someone smarter than they are to come along and make fun of their relative stupidity. I guess this is an application of "Judge not, lest ye be judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again" (Matt 7:1-2). And indeed, also, "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." (Matt 7:12)
I used to think about that before a lot, when I was at school, and with people in general, wondering about people judging and making fun of others when they would be the same or worse if they were in the same situation in most cases, it is something I never understood and never will. I never made fun of somebody for things other people consider stupid, like falling or droping things by accident, or even saying the wrong thing, I never did and I still don't understand what is so bad about making a mistake when there is no actual damage from it, only to make fun of a person, and I have found many people to be like that, it doesn't make sense.
Talking about stupidity, that is actually very stupid thing to do, ending up hurting others by doing that.

But there are other stupid people that cant help but be stupid because they are probably mildly ret*d. Noone wants to be branded as ret*d but they probably actually are. It would be taken badly if people officially called them mildly ret*d because it is used as an insult.
What makes someone "stupid" in the first place?
What does it really mean?
The word is very subjective, and in most cases is out of prejudice, dislike and anger and frustration than anything else.

Bunch of ret*ds, don’t you get, call yourselves aspies. Let me explain. NT nature is a social competitive one where they have to make their competitors small by mocking them, no surprise that sometime they call them stupid. They don’t have to compete with real ret*ds
Don't let me hear more of you jiba jaba or you will meet my friend pain.
Simple: you can't fix stupid.
"ret*d" may actually be a mental condition of retardation in the brain which may be able to be treated with advancements in medicine and science. To make fun of people because they cannot change their disability, i.e. "mental retardation" is not only cruel but is also extremely prejudicial.
Stupidity crosses all boundaries; it's not defined to a race, gender, class, culture, society or any other identifying social type. It can be remedied by education, common sense and rational thought, among other things.
But if someone is too indignant, too ignorant, and/or too stubborn to take these remedies, then their stupidity can simply not be fixed.
Which means that their choice to remain stupid can be made fun of, and that these people are fair game due to their choice.
That's why.

I think that most stupid people would fall into the NT category, they seem to be running the world, and look at the mess its in.

Well, if someone is ret*d, they are kind of like... a child? And you tend to expect more from an adult than you do from a child.
I'm not sure exactly what kind of stupidity you're talking about, though, and I think that someone who's ret*d won't necessary need to be stupid (er... not sure how to phrase that, I think I must be too tired right now).
