This question has always stunted me. Just thought I'd post pics of the early stages of the human fetus to give you an idea. I personally think late term abortion is just as bad as murdering a baby because their nerves are already developed.

I'm not sure what those pictures are intended to prove other than being an appeal to emotion. What the fetus looks like has absolutely no bearing on its legal status. If it still looked like a giant deformed shrimp up until the 8th month does that mean you'd be okay with aborting it?

Most people become a corpse when theyr born into this world. They live their lives as synthetic zombies.

Wasn't trying to establish any emotion. Just posted those pics to give you an idea of what human fetuses look like. You already formed an opinion on my stance and I have no stance other than the opinion on late term abortion. If I invoked some emotion in you, I apologize.

...Just let people have abortions :?

I for one would never want to inflict myself upon a child as a parent.

And yet, you so easily fathom other countries attempting to dictate American policy.

America does far more of that by wielding the carrot and the stick to other countries to make policies harmonious with our own.

That doesn't sound particularly sinister to me. Does it to you? Creating incentives toward harmony? What's the problem with that? :?

Well, I can't argue with that. :geek:

Well, you might not be that bad as a parent. So why not wait until your baby grows up to a level that you can ask him the question of whether he enjoys living or would rather be dead, and if the latter, you can kill him via assisted suicide. Just think of it as an ultra-late-term abortion.

Naturally, this is a thread about abortion. :P

But I thought I'd back us into it, this time.

OK, but no discussion of abortion is complete without the discussion of prevention, which, if effective, would massively reduce the number of abortions performed (obviously).

So, Ragtime, how do you feel about family planning, including abstinence and/or contraception?

The brain doesn't begin to die untill one hour after the heart stops beating. However when the heart is restarted and the body hasn't been cooled the mitochondria mistake re-oxygenated cells for malignant cells and the brain destroys itself.

The answer is that fetuses are inconvenient. They are often terribly inconvenient.
And that is why the law allows us to kill them, by first classifying them as not human, to make us feel better about it.
Hitler made himself and the Germans feel better about killing non-"Aryans" by called them sub-human, and racists of all kinds use that same hate-justifying argument to this day. It's obviously untrue, but it makes them sound less insane.

I have to say I agree with you about the double standard, but why drag Hitler into this? I hate it when people invoke the Holocaust in political debates to make a point; It feels exploitative. Stop!
