Who would you guess pays income taxes in the USA, a guy working a decent factory job here or some child in china ?
The unemployed factory worker is either collecting unemployment or working some lame job and no longer a taxpayer.

your issues with your brother are irrelavent whether your political opinions hold water. You opinions will be no more right or wrong no matter how big or small your paycheck is or how fancy a job title you have. Bush makes more money than most people and has a fancy job title, using your logic the man should be 100% right or near it and he has a fancy college degree on top of it.

That number reflects the amount stolen from the social security trust fund which is grossly under funded anyways.

Currently money borrowed is about $5 trillion, that is what the government owes people for treasury bonds.

future unfunded liabilities for social security, medicare & federal employee pension is something like $50 trillion which is about equal to all the personal net worth in the country.

I'm a certified genius, though. Literally. All that really means, though, is that I'm a bumbler and can't really keep track of things very well. It really isn't what it's cracked up to be. All it means is you're an emotional wreck most of the time, really high-strung, and so weird that people make fun of you when you're not accomplishing interesting things (and sometimes even when you ARE accomplishing interesting things). And there's the really poor self-concept, the propensity for severe existential depression, constant worrying about whether you're ever really going to amount to anything, a certain risk for acute dysphoric mania (you know, the kind you're put in the hospital and sedated for)...babe, I have all of it. I've got psychiatric issues coming out the wazoo.

In short, IQ doesn't mean anything.

not all social welfare leads to a crappier economy, some of it can actually be beneficial

that 9 trillion dollar debt is mostly from world war 2, it rised due to inflation and addition of cambdia and Iraq. If we could cut back on even some military spending I think our economy if anything would be better off. As for the money we have it comes mostly from other countries which we should be thankful to. It does not come out of the actual american tax payers pocket. As for democracy our so called conservative president has a 20% approval rating, so continuing his policies would go against what the people want.

If you believe one so called war in the middle of decades of disfunctional government is really going to affect the american way of life, there is nothing I can say to change your mind.

What has been spent in the last 30 years and what will be spent in the next 30 years by our federal,state & local governments totally dwarfs the little so called war exspense.

If you believe the economy was in fine shape before Bush took office, not likely i could convince you the lines of container ships coming into our ports was going to have a major effect at some point reguardless of who became president. If you believe the money flowing out of social security wasn't going to have the same effect if Gore became president, you truely live in a fantasy world and little chance I'm going to change your mind.

what would you guess the cost of some sunken oil tankers would be, the lack of supply, the removal of some ships to move future supply and the enviromental damage caused would all add up to way more than the so called war is costing. By the way, the war ended years ago when the Iraq Army was defeated and the prior Iraq government ceased to exsist. Now it's just a police action in a bad neighborhood protecting the oil supplies and really a bargain considering what the price of oil would be if the mad men in the middle east had their way.
