I've been interested in Paganism/Wicca for a while. The problem is, I don't really know the difference between the two, and I don't know much about Paganism. Would somebody mind explaining it to me, please?

Probably be quicker and better explained by doing a quick Wiki search; that would give you a good overview and links to click too

im not overly familiar with wicca myself, wicca started in the mid 20th century, and despite its "pagan theme" isn't really considered a pagan religion among most pagans. wicca has a strong sense of duality which isnt shared with pagan religions and concentrates more on the gods than on the spirit world and astrology as pagan beliefs do. some wiccan teachings that ive heard seem to have more in common with ancient Indian teachings then European ones (such as the "3 fold law for example")

wicca also places alot of importance on genders whilst historic accounts show that the Celts had little or no concept of gender roles within their cultures and were infact actually discriminated against for this by both ancient Roman and Greek scholars.

Pegan (sometimes spelled pagan) refers to a wide range of nature-based spiritualities; wiccan refers to a specific group of pegan faiths.

There is a wealth of material out there.

If you are considering peganism, mayhaps take note of the fact that it is a little hard to find other mature, level-headed pegans to practice with in a lot of areas. This is one of the reasons I love witchvox; it has a lot of stuff by intelligent people who don't consider peganism to be a joke.

That said, if it isn't deep and real to you, in some sense or another, peganism is a joke. . . and that's what it is to a lot of people.

Opinions also vary widely on such topics as magic and group energy, ranging from those of us who engage in the rituals on a largely symbolic and psychological level to those who think their power is physical, literal, and great.

I wouldn't say I was a pagan but I have quite an interest in it, but i would say its more Odinism than Paganism for me.

It does not seem structured--in ideology and conduct. There is no certifiable religious books, credible prophets, etc.

It does not seem to me that truth is neccessarily structured. . . quite otherwise, actually. .

I think I lean toward paganism I not only appreciate and luv but respect motherearth because it is a force that's made life possible. I've read a lot on Wicca and I personally don't know what people have against it other than believing in more than one god and accepting women into the covenant. There's a saying I heard of Just as man needs a woman for love and care so to does Woman need man for love and bravery.

At first I thought that statement was sexist but when I got into the book care nurture is part of paganism. I think a majority of ppl including women as a culture look at healing and nurturing as a sign of weakness aka feminine. It makes me think that as a society, aside from sexual gratifaction that Man meaning masculine aspects needs woman meaning femenine aspects to make society or clans survive. I just look at it as a metaphor rather than a generalization.

Explain to me your reason for Paganism. I'm looking as to why you believe in it, and not necessarily looking at to what you believe in. Although, You can answer that as I've some pre-conceived notions of what paganism is--some right, some wrong.
