One might call that theology!
Religion is a social construct around one or more theological beliefs.
So, it is religion in only a very indirect way.
Especially since serious theological debate seems to play a very small part in most religious groups.
While I understand your point, I would point out two meanings to the word religion.

1) Institutional religion, the meaning you are applying here.
2) People's search for meaning by looking for something beyond themselves.

I am applying the second here. Applying the first makes your statement absolutely true.

Jews that are part of the Jewish faith do not believe Jesus was the messiah. If you ask Jews what they think about Messianic Jews, they (a huge majority, anyway) will tell you that Messianic Jews are just Christians who used to be Jewish (and aren't anymore).

If you looked at my definition in "Can people with AS be Religious" posted some time ago, you would see where I posited my working definitions of Religious and Spiritual.
It is my belief that the second definition belongs to spiritual persuits much more then religious ones. But, people certainly investigate religions in a persuit of something external to themselves.

One can certainly argue that if all Jews never saw Jesus as the messiah, then Jesus ben Joseph would never have been called the Christ, and he would never have ridden on the back of a donkey into Jerusalem through the gate he did. The apostles (all Jews) certainly believed that Jesus was the messiah. I'm certain that if you asked 100 Jews what they thought on the issue that you would get a wide spectrum of answers. To purposefully exclude those Jews who answered affirmitively or that they were uncertain is just another form of bigotry.

I didn't ask you what you thought of Bar Kokhba.

Or whether or not you waved a lulav for Sukkot.

Jews don't believe jesus is god because jesus was a jew.

If someone told you some American guy was god, would you accept that? I don't think I would either.

Christians are fricking stupid.
How could the infinite be encapsulated into the finite?
The finite can easily be encapsulated into the infinite.
It's not so easy the other way around.
