Perceptions of nonsense differ. I still say that atheists have the most obnoxious missionaries. And probably the most dedicated as well.

It isn't just the Christians, and it isn't just the other Religionists, but it's also people from Amway, the Democratic National Party, the Libertarian Party, the Republican Party, panhandlers, Atheists, survivalists, unionists, neighborhood committee advocates, telemarketers, New-Agers, Scientologists (and other cultists), environmentalists, animal rights activists, and just about every other special interest group and pseudoscientific philosophy you can name.

Go ahead ... knock on my door ... leave your tracts, your flyers, your business cards ... I'll burn them all later.

I greet them at the door while holding a copy of the Dungeon Master's Guide from the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons ... the one with the red-skinned efreet clutching a bikini-clad victim in one hand and holding a scimitar in the other.

"Oh ... uhh ... never mind" is a typicall response.

Don't forget Mac users.

i've only really had one or two occasions where someone outright tried to convert me. most of the time it's just a "do you want to come to this christian *blank*?" "not interested" "ok" type of conversation.

I'd have to agree on th Mac people, I've yet to see any PC user with the sort of fervent fanaticism that evangelical Mac devotees so commonly display. PC people may get defensive when confronted by a dedicated Mac-head, but seldom try to actively convert other OS users to PC usage. I'd say the Mac people are the most evangelical, but the Linux/Unix people are the most condescending.

Also, let's not leave out people who drive hybrids, the smug bastards!

I don't have a problem with most Mac users... I actually know quite a few level-headed Mac users (although most of them don't use Mac systems exclusively). I guess just as there are both level-headed christians and crusading christians, the same applies to Apple's user base...

My issue with Mac comes from one incredibly misleading concept out of the marketing campaign that Macfans (and now most people outside Apple's sphere of influence) commonly repeat: the concept that a Mac is supposedly not a PC. I seriously cringe whenever someone compares a Mac to a "PC" (meaning Windows system).

When I get god worriers at my door I point ot the bible and tell them that the devil wrote it and shut the door on them. If I had the money I would give them a copy of 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins.

Hey heres an idea I wonder if all the hotels would accept a copy of 'The God Delusion' in place of the gideons.

Orwell you reckon that atheists are a pain in the ass. Ever consider how much of a pain it is having superstitious clap trap rubbed in your face day after day.

Almost as much of a pain as having someone's opinion that my personal belief system (which I don't disseminate to the general public unless it's specifically solicited) is supposedly "superstitious clap trap" rubbed in my face all the time...

PS: No, I'm not a Jehovah's witness, I'm a mainstream Presbyterian...

Spiritual Salvation is a DIY thing, or at least it should be. If you pimp your religion d2d, it loses all value and becomes a filthy mundane thing. I am not the keeper of my brother's immortal soul nor should that responsibility ever fall on me.

I hate door-to-door solicitors, regardless of what their hustle is.

I hate telemarketers, no matter what their hustle is.

I hate that all the attempts at conversion at me seem to be from Eastern European or Greek old ladies who suddenly seem to lose their ability to speak German after I ask one inquiring question. I would like to debate with someone, who has a completely different world view at one point but they never did me a favor to have a real debate. Heck, if they could convince me, I'd convert in an instant.

An impossible task!
