Impossible. The useful religions were started long ago.

Simple, write a very long misinterpretation of an older belief, the older belief the better and then say you heard this interpretation in your dreams and God (or whatever you want to use) has told you this is the correct true way. All you need is a small tribe of people to support you and stuff your pockets with donations.

Name one religion that's useful.

quit being a foolish absolutist, and see any given paradigm as containing axioms- which specifically exist on bellcurves of
assorted useful and useless, primarily, but not exclusively, the latter.

All religions are useful- if used wisely. All of them have serious flaws, esp if used by dogmatists, propaganda artists, egotists,
or shallow thinkers.

As whole systems, they don't work.
Take them apart and theres good stuff amongst the junk.

Failing to do so and throwing the baby out with the bathwater is just as silly as being trapped in religious dogma.

I should have reworded myself, I meant useful as in of actual use, as far as I'm concerned there's no advantage to any people who have a religion verse people who don't. In fact most people who have religions generally waste time at temples or churches and attempt to force themselves to be abstinent, or other pathetic activities. (and yes I do consider abstinence, going to places of worship, suicide bombing, religion, etc. all as pathetic, say whatever you like, quote me I don't care) And actually if it makes you happy you can call me closed minded as well as religions aren't about evidence, they're about faith, faith in things that don't fit together or make sense, and I'm unwilling honestly to open my mind to such a thing. (yes, I know not all religions carry the characteristics I've listed above, and I'm not saying they do but generally I'm listing characteristics expressed through different types of religions)

So does religion... :P

Any reasonably well thought-out parody of religion is indistinguishable from any 'legitimate' religion.

Aside from contributing to the wealth of religious leaders, there is nothing that religion contributes to society that can not be contributed by secular authority.

You're wrong. Secular society obviously lack the inspiration to faith, hope, and love that religion provides.

If a religion needs corporate sponsors, something is wrong.
