The story certainly doesn't mention much in the way of hair care or beard trimming, but then you don't see Batman taking a bath either.

It's not something you read much about in fiction, about fictional characters, unless it's to indicate obsessive cleanliness, or how much they feel the need to wash off the day's dirt, or because the story is about a fashion model.

So I don't think it indicates anything about the character Jesus, or his appearance, that there are few references to him having a wash.

But I'm not.

Believing in god doesn't mean I have to believe that a fictional/mythological character is historical. Do you believe that everything you read in the bible actually happened?

No, I don't. What religion do you follow, are you one those DIY religion types? Which religious figure do you consider to be true, if any?

At him Kings will shut their mouth, because what had not been recounted to them they will actually see, and to what they had not heard they must turn their consideration.

Who has put faith in the thing heard by us? And as for the arm of God, to whom has it been revealed?

And he will come up like a twig before one, and like a root out of waterless land.

No stately form does he have, nor any splendor; and when we shall see him, there is not the appearance so that we should desire him.

He was despised and was avoided by men, a man meant for pains and having acquaintance with sickness. And there was as if the concealing of one's face from us. He was despised, and we held him as of no account.'

Are you a Buddhist then.. perhaps.. ?

(He asks hopefully)

Do you believe in Buddha's teachings.. ?

"I am told that thou teachest the law,
yet thou tearest down religion.

Thy disciples despise rites and abandon immolation,
but reverence for the gods can be shown only by sacrifices.
The very nature of religion consists in worship and sacrifice."

Said the Buddha:
"Greater than the immolation of bullocks is the sacrifice of self.
He who offers to the gods his evil desires
will see the uselessness of slaughtering animals at the altar.
Blood has no cleansing power,
but the eradication of desire will make the heart pure.

Better than worshipping gods is obedience to the laws of righteousness."

If he looked like the traditional representation that could explain why they killed him. The local Arabs and Jews did not want some loud mouthed European telling them what to do.

Since we know Jesus Christ was born in the Middle East, we also know that he was a Semite, with dark hair and features. The classic artists' renderings of Christ are exactly that: artists' renderings. The European cultural bias is more apparent in some of the artwork than in others. We can imagine that Christ had a princely and beatific look, which, being God Incarnate, he probably did. For the same reason, many other much-admired historical figures like Joseph Smith and Sir Isaac Newton have been rendered flatteringly. Their actual appearances matter less than their idealized portaitures.

person can believe in god with out being religious. imo organized religion kills spirituality, and organized religion commented some of the worse evil in human history. examples are genocide of people who were not christian in europe, holy wars against nations were the majority of the population believed in different faiths. activily putting down people who were logical and tried to explane the world by science, mostly by death some times just by arrest or life of torture.

so in closing i have to say this, Christians have made it there goal for hundred of years to f**k the world so they can all go and die. before there were Christians the world was a much more enlighten place when they took control shortly afterwords we had the dark ages.
