I am confused by this thread...
anywhioo..if I am attractive now, it is only from certain angles...and it is making up for my having been a very ugly and akward child.
Also singing has been a major obsession of mine since i was little. It is arguably how I learned to talk.

I wouldn't say I'm attractive or have much symmetry - but I do look very young for my age. I'm 37 and am often mistaken for mid 20s - I put that down to not having any lines on my face due to unenthusiastic facial expression most of my life... That may be a factor but I think saying people with AS tend to be physically/facially attractive is a huge generalisation.

Yeah. My family members all say I'm gorgeous, but everybody else seems to think I'm ugly. I could list various incidents that all point to it, but I'd rather not.

do they call you ugly or do they react to you as if you're ugly?

I did a few paid modelling jobs despite having the impression people thought I was ugly.
Apparently I was only ugly in real-time...lol

I have been told I was good looking and dress nicely. I've also been told I couldn't be autistic because I speak well and have a good vocabulary. I do have the social difficulties of AS, however. The symptoms don't show up as much when I'm working in my areas of strength.

Some of the ladies here, me being subjective of course, are really cute. Aurore, Hail Bopp, d0ds0t and probably lots more. I haven't seen all your sites or photos and some, like me probably, dislike being photographed.

Ladies, you're all beautiful and do not let anyone tell you differently. I'm not saying this alone to suck up, haha but also I belief a trait of autism is to have a bit of a lack of self-confidence (not all and not all the time), but surely at a younger age. Unsure about their looks (NT's as well, of course) but I think it's such a shame when someone thinks of themself as ugly. Don't do that, please.

But to say the autist is pretty per se, can't be right.

Similar here. I used to be considered quite attractive by more people than now though. Although even then some considered me ugly as well. I suppose a lot of the difference depended (and still depends) on whether you consider hairiness a turnoff on women, also certain facial posture habits I have look cute on kids and just weird on adults.

I would probably be attractive to me, but a lot of "ugly" people are attractive to me because they have distinctive faces that I can recognize more easily than people with more conventionally attractive faces.

Flakey is fond of telling me that when I was younger I looked just like Christina Ricci...but of course that was years ago....during a time when I was incredibly uncomfortable in my skin and completely oblivious as to how I looked.

It's just an annoying stereotype. If you're beautiful/smart/have a family/etc. or anything else going for you then supposedly you can't be autistic. I think it's the idea that if you have something they consider so horrible, then every other aspect of your life and person must be awful.

It's quite known that Bill Gates is under the spectrum, he has it all.. (okay well not ALL, he doesn't have the looks LOL but does that mean he looks "autistic"? Well anyway) he has a wife, kids, money.. LOTS and LOTS of money... people probably just refuse to believe he is autistic even though he rocks at his meetings, in fact they probably laugh at the idea... the fact that he is living a full life would mean that he is not autistic right? Because how can that be, living a full life and being autistic? Just not possible!

My face is not at all symetrical, I'm not sure how much you can tell from those pics. My left eyebrow is higher than the other, and I have a slight cross bite, so my bottom jaw is a few millimeters to the right. The left side of my face is more expressive. When I smile, the left corner of my mouth goes up higher. And I have the high Aspie forehead. I just have nice hair to make up for it. LOL
