with apologies to Winston Churchill...;)

Chrisianity is the worst of all religions...with the exception of all the others...;)

Any religion gets started on an ad hoc basis. Jesus didn't have the New Testament delivered in it's final form by Fed Ex...;) Most of the Koran was written down after being handed down from oral tradion and memory. Someone collected the Buddah's sayings, but everything out there in any form has been edited (although the original source material for Horus is still available; it's hard to erase stone [not that a Pharoh or two didn't try...])

So a lot of this stuff got 'made up', and finally organized decades or centuries afterwards. People will find truth and comfort where they can. Who knows who has the correct answer?

With all-due respect, Christianity has nothing on any other religion. The bible was written by so many different men, sometimes changing in the middle of a book - has been changed and altered by the hyperpowerful churches and retranslated so many times it's amazing anyone can still believe anything it says. Hell, the fact that Jesus was divine WAS NOT established into Christianity UNTIL the Nicaean council smashed the Arian philosophy in the mid 300's!

Nonetheless, not even Jesus's teachings are better than any of the other god-beings. It's all warm and fuzzy to think about turn the other cheek - but in general that alone is not a beneficial practice or people will walk all over you. Have any of you Christians actually read the Sermon on the Mount? You guys tout this as being some hypermoral godspeech, but if you actually read what Jesus is [supposedly] saying, most of it is bad advice, and some of it is the worst advice I've ever heard. Nothing about Jesus's words OR life is demonstrably divine.

Well . . . Perhaps God just gets bored with one avatar and logs back into Word of Mortalcraft and designs a new character from time to time. :-)

you know that comment really does make sence. islam is a perfect example of it, suposidly judiasm and christianity were imperfect forms of the most blessed deity. ive read parts of the koran and while it does appear to have some mathematical facts and knowelege about the universe long before it was well established i dont like the whole idea of a kalifiah or what ever its called. (religious law to govern the world) most of islam is barbaric, but im shure there are very friendly peace loving muslims. sadly islam to me is a continuation of former ideas much like mormonism. but maybe its the truth so who knows, who replaced jesus off the cross? i noticed alot of muslims like to discredit the so called sacrifice because then you wouldnt have a saviour. no im not converting to islam but a religion backed up by facts without any aparent contradictions makes alot of sence to me

^ Christians and Muslims are generally good people. Christianity and Islam are evil, barbaric religions with malicious gods. The Christian extremists (Fundigelicals, Dominionists, etc) and Islamic extremists (Al Qaeda, etc) are the result of unintelligent people taking an evil religion literally. When good people look at an evil religion that they have accepted as their own, they tend to only look at the good parts and not the bad parts.

i would probably get along with your more traditional arab loving muslim than i would any christian thats for shure. arabs are very hospitable and ive never really had any encounters with jews other than i think i ate at ones house before so i dont know what they are like. ive never met or had one good encounter with a christian who just wanted to be friends. theres always an agenda! and i always feel so inferior

I tend to think that all these earthly personas, Jesus/Mithras/Horus/Buddha, are maybe the same being incarnating into human form. Maybe God incarnates and comes down to Earth whenever He deems it necessary. I remember reading a passage like this in the Bhagavad Gita, where Arjuna's charioteer turned out to be God Himself. All of this, the whole lot of it, I regard as a great puzzle whose pieces are scattered throughout time & space.

And that's why it doesn't bother me as a Christian to hear about this. In fact, it makes sense to me. If time is truly cyclical like the Hindu cosmological model and perhaps not linear like the Judeo-Christian cosmological model ... all of this is like the threads of a tapestry.

Fascinating! :study: :nerdy:

I can respect that theory even though I don't believe it because it is openminded and showing that ALL religions have truth to them.

All religions do have truth in them. Having an open mind is good, especially if you are freethinker.

My views are not extremely narrow, and I would hesitate to say that Jesus is is the only way to heaven, despite what the Bible says. I don't agree with everything in the Bible nor do I agree with everything the Christian/Catholic Church teaches. As Christians go, I'm pretty liberal.

well, most of the Egyptian names come to us through either Greeks or Macedonian writings. At least until the rosetta stone.
