well if you study the catholic church they do suposidly have the bones of peter or paul. AND they fall prostrate and worship them, ive seen it on a documentry so dont tell me thats not true because it is. jesus if he was who he said he was birthday and body was left unknown for good reasons. PEOPLE WOULD WORSHIP IT. like duh. and worship alone belongs to god

jesus is in heaven, its called outer space and hes an alien. holler at your boy now. show some love!

The Catholic Church, given its history, must have some really juicy secrets.

Sheperds had no reason to watch over their flocks unless it was birthing season, which is in spring. Scientists have calculated Jesus's birthdate in June.

Christmas really has nothing to do with christanity at all, it's really a pagan holiday with christan meanings tagged on by Pope Julius in efforts to wipe the pagans out.
The tree, mistletoe, holly, presents, yule log, even most of the aspects of Santa Claus are all pagan.

here's something i read recently:

"faith is believing in something with no proof"

if there is no proof, no evidence, and no reason then what you're talking about doesn't exist. if god were real, he would'nt be a god and so to be a god he can't be real... thus meaning all religion is false as far as thse following the religion believe without realising anyway.

That's pretty cool. Never thought of it that way.
I can see and feel the earth so I guess I am ok with my 'mother earth' worship.

Or at least of pagan origin. Next to Easter, Christmas is our most important feast. Can you guess why?

You are talking feast here.
Just about every tradition in modern christmas are pagan stuff. What I am simply saying is Jesus is not the reason for the season. The birth of christ could have been picked at anytime during the year because people did not know when he was born, but they picked Yule with the intention of erasing the pagan celebration and replacing it with a christan one, and it worked, it was done the same way that myths and fairy tales are passed down.

Is christmas a sham? In a way it is because it has tricked people into continuing on pagan traditions when it really has nothing to do with the christan faith.

There is no christian explnation for the tree, log, mistletoe, holly, ect.

But do I care? No. This is all history and politcial correctness. I was curious, did research and this is what I found. I ask questions about religion which is something that not many people in my family do at all. They believe it because it's what they where told.

Pagan elements have been combined to form the Christian Feast of Christ-Mass. Naturally, all things owe their existence to things previous. The pagan origins of Christmas certainly do not invalidate it.

Paganism is not the source of all orginality, either.

it just goes to show that no religion is unique or it's own, christians thought pagans were devil worshipers or at least said so to get more people away from the religion, so does that mean anyone who celebrates christmas is celebrating a devil worshiping holiday?

where do you put the line, and how do you know if you've crossed it?

Christans thought that pagans where evil, conserviate ones still do, yet they still celebrate pagan holidays.

Many religions have branched off each other.
Paganism to Judiasm to Christanity to Islam

Every religion has a legend of a deity who died and was reborn. Even ancient pagans believed (and still do) that at a part of the year the god dies, the godess mourns, and the god is reborn. Jesus, Horus, Krishna, they are all similar stories. The religious myths are meant to be like fables. You can learn from them. However, the danger is when people take scripture literally.

that's what i try to explain, i have no problems or quarrel with someone who acts as a good samaritan who acts as 'christ' taught, but worship and religion is taking things too far. as i've said in another part of the forum there have been many great men (and women) in history that tried to teach humanity how to be more human, most of themwere killed for it, yet they weren't turned into martyrs of a religion. why is jesus so diferent?

How is worship and religion taking things too far? Extremist behaviour is what takes things too far, and that is not exclusive to religion.

Does it matter?

It was chosen by the Romans as a good day because it coincided with the sun god festival. I don't see why we can't just make it world "happy day" where everyone at least pretends to be happy for one day.

Has anyone seen Joyeux Noel (the war film).

Isn't it worth celebrating the human spirit that enabled two opposing sides on a battlefield to lay down their arms and forget their differences just for one day.

Lets celebrate humanity, love, peace, joy and spirit.

It doesn't have to be about nations or deities.
