Angel wings? This is so lame.

I wish I had someone else to talk to about this. *shakes head*

Absolutely! They are totally out of date. Angels need ceramic lined a**holes and high pressure hydrogen farts that can be ignited to give them huge velocities like interplanetary rockets. Much more impressive than wings if they can flame into your presence as heavenly messengers on spouts of fire and smoke.

The obvious problem with angels is that they are not aerodynamic. Anything that flies with wings has to have a particular musculature which basically makes them look like birds, not people with wings. And, of course, if you think they are actually insubstantial spirits, they don't need wings at all to fly. It's a problem in physiological design.

Aspie Intrepret Literally much?

Angels are spirits, ie. non-physical.

Angels may or may not actually have wings. They have been depicted as havings wings because of artists' understanding of what angels are, ie. beings who fly back-and-forth between heaven and earth, relaying messages.

In the collective consciousness of the world, angels are understood to look a certain way. But what if angels appear that way to people who have encountered them as a direct result of how they've been depicted by artists?

And what if God has no face but the one we've imagined for Him?

Everything that exists is physical. Not necessarily material, but definitely physical.

Demikritos and Leukipos were right.

Thank you slowmutant for clarifying this.

Forgive me if I sound redundant.

It is estimated that 96% of the universe is made up of "dark matter". Dark matter was once considered empty space. Every cubic centimeter of empty space/dark matter in the universe contains more energy than the total energy of all the matter in the known universe. Just because our world is comprised of physical forms of energy does not mean that all life forms in the universe must abide by the same rules on earth.

Maybe the aliens/angels reside in this realm. Perhaps our minds are entangled with this energy in some way and that is how the aliens communicate with us. We can grasp this reality about as good as an ant can understand our world and to think otherwise is proud human folly. That is why the more literal abductees have the most absurd abduction experiences while the more spiritually aware people have a much easier time assimilating the experience into their conscious mind.

I think you're on to something. I read someone's account of angelic encounters and he said people often believe the angels they see have wings, because when they appear there may be a haze around them. So I doubt they fly with "wings", but they somehow by the hand of God transcend are not affected by earth laws as we humans are.

Btw I have seen a ghost on a relatives farm and the experience was nothing to brag about. It was rather chilling actually.

I wonder why people who see ghosts don't see them all the time. The same goes for aliens.
Why do people only see aliens sometimes? If they exist, then shouldn't they just make themselves known? This is why I think aliens are modern angels/demons/ghosts/gods.
They are life forms made of energy. I don't know.

How many atheists here could have a willing suspension of disbelief for this idea in a work of fiction?

Energy is by definition in the physical world, there is simply no other world ans also the rule of physics are valid everywhere.

If there is all this energy in empty space, what's going on in there? I know everything is physical in some sense. Electrical waves are physical. Try not to be so literal and I'll try not to speak in metaphors so much.

Why there are people how think that a creator of universe forbids to eat meet on Good Friday? Whilst other thinks that the same creator forbids pork? Why every year millions of co-called Christmas-Singles are sold? Why people spend a lot of money in the US for a Prosche with 300km/h max. spend, when they will never allow to use it in the US? Why people care about the outcome of football games, which will not change their live anyway, but never even heard about the WTO?

A certain amount of madness is normal within humans.

Actually you have it quite backwards. A certain amount of intelligent aware analysis seems rather abnormal within human discussions.

I agree with those sentiments above, however that has nothing to do with what I'm saying.
Let's pretend religion doesn't exist and go from there. What do you think?

It's more fun to pretend that religion does exist because the faithful almost totally and incessantly violate their religious principles and ignore their violations of human decency.
