I've made the trip up to Danville, OH the past 4 years for their annual 'Coon Dinner. Once you get past the texture, and if you get a good piece(not spine), it really isn't too bad. Although, I can't say I've gotten used to it yet. I doubt a fifth year will do it for me, but I'll take that chance.

There's a joke surrounding the event that the day after, there's not a cat to be found in Danville.

This year, they cooked 600 lbs. of 'coon, and had enough that my dad bought some to take home. Last year they ran out.

Now that I think about it...as a gumbo would be an excellent way to prepare it. Or any type of cajun dish. Danville serves is as a meat and potatoes roast...and I'm not really a meat and potatoes kinda person.

The educated classes know better, especially those educated in relevant subjects. Anyways, it doesn't matter what people believe. Evolutionary theory is the most coherent explanation we currently have.

Of course, in a democracy, the educated classes have a tendanct to manipulate and enforce the beliefs and superstitions of the lesser classes, which is one reason why educating the lower classes on factual histories, supported by evidence, is actually significant within such societies.

Educated classes imposed in history their ideology in the less educated masses. The state churches in Europe are an example like the state run religions of antiquity.

In modern democracies something different happens: Because the state does not promote any more a particular religion the less educated pick up their religion. The educated classes in western societies are mostly agnostic or outspoken atheistic, whilst in the US still more than 70% are firm believers in personal god.
