in retrospect, i'd just transfer "both" lappands to the finns. the only reason i split lappland was that it was stupidly shaped

man, you forgot about the Kashubian republic in north of Poland. we have a serious separatist movement here, time for people to start taking us seriously!

:P

hm... i have gone by obvious linguistical differences, previous historical states/borders, or _serious_ separatist movements. europe is sprinkled through and through with _less_ serious ones :D
i think italy actually exploded, an ENTIRE country, some years ago. by the exact definitions of the event.

now let's see...
"Total population
50,000 to 500,000"

aha.

at least there is a language called "Kashubian".
ahhh its a little minority language! hm. that IS a plus.

but, i cant find anything about any separatism, but then again its wikipedia, maybe it said tons about it 2 minutes ago.

in fact, its so geographically small, that i'd let poland re-absorb you, like i did with cornwall

Nah...I really have trouble seeing the US divided. In fact, it takes very little to inspire us to band together. Just look at the first year after 9-11. Every citizen and their dog flew a flag...regardless of race, religion, economic status, or political views. We were all US citizens, united in our outrage.

Other countries might get US land, but it would not get the people. US Citizens have guns, and I can tell you they will use them either on their captors or themselves before capture. It would be a blood battle for someone trying to take over Western Rocky Mountain States, as well as states like Texas. US Citizens would also poison the land too, render it useless.

If the USA goes under, it will not be with a whimper, but with a huge bang.

No, no, you've got it all wrong! China's going to instigate a civil war in the U.S. and then throw their weight to one side, guaranteeing that side's eventual victory and gratitude to China. The Americans won't hate China, we'll welcome them with open arms. It'll be great!

South Carolina is going to join the EU eh? I'm pretty sure that discredits the whole thing right there.

Interesting about us Canadians taking part. I wonder how it might affect us in Ottawa...

Why is China taking California? South Carolina joining the EU? And Florida going to Mexico?! (would NEVER happen)

This guy simply does not understand too much about the US, at least based on how he set up his map. Several of the states that he put as going to the EU would more likely go to Canada, if anything. But there doesn't seem to be any reason why we'd have a civil war in the next couple years. I mean, what will be the two sides in this war? Throughout the 1850s, and for a couple decades before that, there was an obvious polarization between North and South leading up to the Civil War. Where is today's polarization? Where is the divide, where are the lines along which the belligerents in this civil war will separate? He seems to be predicting that we'll just get a civil war out of nowhere because that would go along well with the idea of the US collapsing, and it's obvious that foreign invasion would not be capable of defeating the US so it was necessary to invent an internal reason for America's prophesied fall.

Haves, and have nots, Orwell. I'd assume some of that will correlate with ethnicity, and location within the US. It amazes me how blind some of you Americans are to the mess you're in, but I still think the prediction given a little too pessimistic.

It amazes me how much people in other countries think they know about this country when they lack even a crude understanding of it. That map and the prediction are jokes. Period.
