All the time, every day. I am a reiki user and I am Gnosis. It is entirely unavoidable.

No, because long ago I realised that it was really silly to believe the uniformed, uneducated superstitious ramblings of desert nomads from 2500 years ago. Prayers come true in the same way Horoscopes do.

Daily. I even have a specific morning prayer that I custom made to myself along the way.

What it comes to with me is that yes, part of it is asking for guidance, part of it is asking for the strengh to never let the hardships of life make me bitter, part of it is asking that I never be beaten enough by life to not be ready for something great that's supposed to be there (from many possible angles).

If there's a God - I'm doing something that helps me stay in the flow of things and go with the underpinnings of the universe in such a way that I'm able to gain the kind of harmony I personally need to be happy. If there's truly no God - the affirmation itself has that much psychological benefit and brings out the right sides of me and the right ways of thinking to are a large part of what leads me to personally still be a believer, its almost like the atheist-leaning reality many people see - and I myself have noted as well - is one side of a double-entende, interlaced with many other things that we don't have tools to see around of behind (I feel like if anything our only failing is we become too mesmerized or enamored by the mechanism itself).

FUTILE

It’s alright to pray for some money
Or the cure to endure a sore throat,
But for cancer no answer
To give you a chance, sir.
It’s cure is exceeding remote.

Since God made you sick for a start,
Don’t put the horse ‘fore the cart.
You’re just His minion,
Can’t change His opinion
For He has a very small heart.

What’s done, in His eyes, is done.
Life can be absent from fun.
So a prayer for His help
Is a meaningless yelp
To the Father or to the Son.

Nordens or Turan are strange.
Their beliefs are out of my range.
Whether stupid or smart
I don't know their art
To endow me with cancer or mange.

Yes I went as far as praying that my nephew would get better just before he passed away in the hospital. I've done the same for other people who were in a bad state.

So far, nothing but it seems disasters such as this cause me to pray like a nervous tic......and I don't even believe in a god. I guess it's like a comfort thing or the only way I can deal with having no control over mother nature's bs.

PRAYER

Don’t you think it odd
When you piss and moan at God
His decisions need revisions,
Are not right?

The Almighty should be perfect,
No defect should infect
The way he makes provisions.
Do you doubt his sight?

Your problems, strictly local,
Why make them so vocal
When totality is of God’s concern?
Your personal destruction
Is a very small production.
Isn’t it time for you to learn?

If you believe in God,
Spoil the soul, spare the rod.
Do not second guess your deity.
It damages belief
And bestows no relief.
The very opposite of piety.

The best that prayer can do is to help "center" one's self. It is really a form of meditation. Begging for heavenly favors is wishing somehow that the world is something other than it is. The best you can ask for and expect is to accept What Is and be calm about it.

The answer to prayer is Courage and Acceptance.

So when everything is falling apart and the world is going to hell in a hand basket you might very well ask for the strength to keep your wits about you, to focus and not to panic.

One of the best prayers of all is the Bene Gessert Litany from Dune:

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

No matter who or what your god is, that prayer can be answered.

When I was a kid I used to say my bedtime prayers every night, I stopped when I found out when it didn't do anything. To me hopeing and praying is the same thing.
