@visagrunt

Change just for the sake of change is stupid, cause change isn't always for the best.

Yeah, just like with the popular rhetoric prior to WWII, "PROGRESS!" was one of the most overhyped and practically deified nouns in existence then. The question of "Progress towards what?" being answered by morons with too much time and money on their hand with, "towards the ubermenchen!" to which people like Eisenhower thankfully replied with a few million soldiers, "over your dead bodies."

You realize the Nazi's were not progressive? Racial purity movements always glorify a real or imagined past.

Racial purity movements arise in response to a society's changing direction towards acceptance, so it's not nostalgia for it's own sake.

Also, conservative is not equivalent to "traditionalist". The issues of conservatives today are both moral and economic. On the economic side there's basically a notion of "don't spend what doesn't exist". On the moral side there is anti-euthanasia, anti-abortion, pro-freedom of speech, pro-weapon ownership for responsible citizens, pro-freedom of church from state, etc. The Nazis were pro-euthanasia, pro-abortion, pro-genocide, pro-gun control, professional jerks, in other words they are more like Democrats than they are like conservatives.

I agree on the word conservative not being synonymous with traditionalist, but how are Nazis supposed to be more like Democrats? Fascism is the worst of both worlds. Hierarchical dynamics taken to the extreme, bureaucracy, corporatism, nationalism, radicalism, and collectivism (yes nationalism falls under collectivism, but collectivism also pertains to the economic side of things). The fact that fascism views violence as a means of strengthening the nation is in a f****d up world of its own which pertains to neither Democrats or Republicans.

Nazis are similar to the Democrats in regard to their valuation of human life. The eugenics of the Nazis and the consistently advocated abortion and euthanasia of the Democrats are not to the same magnitude but they both place the same value upon human life. Conservatives are anti-abortion and anti-euthanasia, the only thing that may remotely resemble the Nazis is the acceptance of the death penalty for criminals convicted of murder. However, conservatives are generally against the murder of the innocent by the state whereas Democrats often are generally in favor of murder of the innocent by the state - especially if they are a nuisance to people wishing to have fun without responsibility or are otherwise a "financial burden". In these respects, Democrats are more alike to Nazis than are conservatives.

Generally I describe Fascist beliefs as having only one ideal, that being that 'men are not created equal'. All of the rest is just ideological gravy

:roll:
What exactly is wrong with voluntary euthanasia? You people refuse the idea that society should not allow people suffering from expensive medical emergencies go into permanent debt, bankruptcy, and/or become homeless yet simultaneously want to deny people the right to voluntarily put an and to their excessive and intolerable suffering. Seems conservatives are simply pro-pain and anti-compassion. You think making people suffer unnecessarily builds character right? :roll: I bet it gives you a hard-on. We must unleash horrible suffering on people to teach them "personal responsibility". That makes us hard and tough like Real Merikans (TM). You guys sound like the true Fascists. "rugged individualism" = social darwinism = the ubermensch triumph of the will. I also notice conservatives tend to be more war-like than liberals. Sieg heil!! !

Roll your eyes at yourself. All that talk of quality of life is crap. It's just like suicide, whereby people get temporarily depressed and permanently affect the situation by their deaths. "Voluntary" is not always the case, is it? Doctors decide what "quality of life" a person has, in places such as Holland where a person was executed a few years back just because they temporarily needed an extra hospital bed. Horrible sufferring? WTF? It is difficult to find work and support oneself, but would you have it so that people just blow their brains out in order to decrease the supply of job applicants? Conservatives are not pro-pain nor anti-compassion. So much of the B.S. rhetoric of the demowits is focused upon appealing to people who are currently in hard times, but after the votes are cast they do about as much to help people support themselves as a providing more jobs to bureaucrats and issuing more and more rules ad naseum can. If conservatives are to be considered anything regarding pain it would be that they tend to advocate stoicism rather than epicureanism. Yes, conservatives are often more openly war-like than Demwits, but that is because many conservatives realize that if one desires peace they must be ready for war. Being peaceful while the rest of the world is war-like is a recipe for losing both an inevitable war or series of wars and thereby losing the lives of our allies as well as our own.

Drop the platitudes you prick. Not all suffering is temporary. Depression can be permenent.

Either find a way so that all people can support themselves without a life of utter misery or give people the right to blow their brains out.

See how good stoicism does you when you have someone stepping on your throat. The world is cruel and oppressive and conserviturds are the ones who justify doing nothing.

Name one American war since the 1940s that has made the world more peaceful.

The gulf wars have. Do you have any idea what Saddam Hussein's regime was like? How about living under the radical extremist government in Afghanistan? Wars are violent, but modern warfare costs far less quantity of lives than the wars of which you excluded by setting the date to 1950 onwards.
