No Western power has ever done anything bad to a single Muslim ever. They never orchestrated coups, or sucked up to and supported vicious dictators. Never gave resources to stamp down on left based secularism. They never invaded and occupied, used white phospherous or drones, never shot at civilians. And everyone knows racism is always about people's skin colours. Any anger - or even hatred - of Muslims toward the West is of a purely scriptural basis - they have always been fanatically fundamentalist. Because their ideology is the one that stops them questioning it. Not like us in the West - if anything, we're too self critical.

Yup. In quite a few ways, the West is being the author of its own problems.

Islam/Islamism wouldn't be half the nuisance it is in the West if it weren't for the West and it's constant pandering and enabling of it (and it's constant helping to fund Saudi-style Islam).

I somehow doubt pandering and enabling Islam itself is among our problems, it's more to do with the politics of oil. By intervention, I meant military action.

We are in the unfortunate position of being presently reliant on the Saudis. I think the reason why Pakistan is becoming more radicalised is due to Saudi investment, which is in turn why we have militants in the UK. They go to madrassas run by Salafists.

Don't get wrong, I think PC is largely unhelpful but it's not responsible for the 'Islam' problem. Oil, war and the book itself are responsible.

I'm of the opinion that it's not The Innocence of Muslims that offends them but rather Seinfeld, Friends, The Simpsons, Keeping Up With The Kardashians and South Park that offends them. They don't really care about a stupid movie, what they care about is the fact American military and cultural hegemony is threatening to utterly destroy their 1400 year old culture forever.

A lot of people in Muslim countries don't seem that bothered at all by that fact, even in places like Iran. It's the zealots and the ones with the power that worry.
