The Versailles treaty was the cause of WWII.
Those short-sighted bastards cause the German environment which allowed Hitler to gain power. 8)

Wow, you must be so objective and cool.

No type person is as aware as someone who calls most other people irrational with themselves as the exception.
It is just like that Principal Skinner meme.

And I am sure the war and sanctions on the Middle East will cause the next 9/11 or WWIII. A level of unnecessary sanctions happen, other people at the time focus too much on the reason they might have been put in place at the time and wonder why they get extreme reactions from populists able to get support for strikes back.

Iran could have started the third world war after Trump ended the nuclear deal and someone in your exact position in 80 years would be saying that it was Trump's sanctions that were actually responsible for it. If unfairness was all the reason needed to create a fascistic movement there would be all the reasoning needed to go against the Western World built on slavery, exploitation of the English Empire and so on.

Just disagreeing with Fox News or calling them names is not cancel culture. It needs to be at least a serious attempt to silence them to put them out of business. In the 60s John Lennon said the Beatles were bigger then Jesus at the time. In response there were record burnings. That did not work. 13 years the “Disco Sucks” movement specifically “Disco Demolition Night” was more successful.

Part of that speaks to the political differences. Disco had a less white and much gayer fanbase, so it's not surprising reactionaries were able to stoke more rage against disco than against the Beatles. Disco Demolition Night was also peak rockism.

“rockism”. Now that is a blast from the past.

Off Topic
Disco not only had a much less white and gayer audience the music came from those demographics. Racism and homophobia were an important part of “Disco Sucks”. There was also over saturation and subsequent decline in quality of the music. Computerized/synthesizer music was brand new and not immediately accepted(and could not be as easily marketed as a rock star) The disco scene was often elitist with doorman with strict entry policies and acts named “Chic” and Evelyn “Champaign” King. And there were conspiracy theories back then. The “disco infestation” was a cooperate or government plot to anesthetize minds. Was it racism/ homophobia or elitism?. Conspiracy theories. Sound familiar?

Works!

I am ok with a site that allows the N word, and I am ok with one that forbids it.

Forbidding the N-word supports an anti-racist agenda. Not necessarily a "progressive agenda".

I am not feeling that feeling of indigination you have towards Alex for censoring it.

So if posting a direct quote where the word is used, it would still be censored but not changed to n-word. I see no problem with that. Also though I'd figure a progressive agenda would be the best kind...isn't progress a good thing?

"Progressive" means different things to different people.

But I and ASPartofMe were using the word in the partisan sense to mean "left of center", or "liberal", or "green party".

SOME conservatives oppose racism as much as do Liberal Dems. I am pretty sure.

SOME MOST conservatives oppose racism as much as do Liberal Dems. I am pretty sure.

I fixed it for you. 8)

Unfortunately, at least as far as U.S conservatives that doesn't seem to be true. It's not always outright loud and proud racism but many at least have a lot of pretty ignorant views when it comes to racial issues. A large amount of my extended family is conservative and all the ones who are, are a little racist or at least say racist things.

If someone is a true Christian, they cannot embrace racism.
The people you are referring to are probably simple hypocrites. 8)

Christianity, by its nature, is totally inclusive and embraces all who wish to join.
Look at all the missionaries that the church sent all over the world. ;)
There is no getting around that.
Perhaps many American Christians haven't been educated properly about their dogma beliefs?

Seems there are a good amount of hypocrite christians, that is part of why I left the religion. Love your neighbor on Sunday but screw them any other day of the week. But then also I never really thought it made sense we were all 'sinners' that needed saving and all that praying and having faith never seemed to do me any bit of good, and that god is an a**hole to be fair.

We have a lot of pushy christians to that want everyone to abide by biblical ideas/laws...such as wanting to ban abortion because life begins at 'conception' which is not true from a biological standpoint the way they mean it.

And idk how I feel about missionaries, seems kind of silly to assume you know better what the people you help should believe religiously. Its like help but with pressure to accept their religion, what if the people they go to help area already content with their own beliefs?

Also, I have a feeling there are hypocritical, pushy christians beyond the U.S as well.

Well, I wouldn't be there in the first place.

I wouldn't fight back. ;)

I probably wouldn't be there in the first place either, I prefer to stay away from anything that attracts police.

I already figured if I ever did find it in myself to go to one, that's probably what I would do. Of course from some of the accounts I read about and even videos made it seem there was not always a clear way out. Better for me to support such things as protests from a distance.

It's just that the right wing traditionally held the power in terms of what you can and can't say and now it's minorities speaking out about what they find offensive, people are shocked.

Like if a kid took over the classroom it would be shocking.

Although in that case, the teacher would have a valid reason to be in charge.

Alleged unfairness can be true, or it can be false. That's what "alleged" means. I agree the vindictiveness of the Versailles treaty was a primary cause of the rise of the Nazis, but it wasn't the only thing to incur the wrath of Hitler, was it? Jewish people being portrayed as lazy, greedy and undeservedly rich being one example. Disabled people and ethnic minorities being a burden on society. Certain authors and artists being denounced as subversive and "un-German". Other nations greedily hogging land that was, and always had been, theirs.... Widespread resentment was definitely a driving force, some of it was justified but a lot was completely irrational. Hitler's early rhetoric has the air of an abused child taking all his frustrations out on the world. The issue with that was, once he'd gained power, things didn't improve as he'd promised and he was now responsible. So who could he blame now? Especially once all the previous groups he'd targeted had been demeaned / silenced / dispatched? That's why very right wing nationalistic parties generally implode sooner or later, they can't sustain their own reality gap and general hatred level, and sooner or later it all descends into bitter in-fighting. Obviously if the already unstable leader becomes even more bitter and deranged that speeds it along too.

Like the collective guilt of the "white" race?
Yeah, I never bought into being deemed corrupt, because I was half German, whilst I was still in the womb. 8O
Well actually, I lived all my childhood under the burden of guilt of what happened to the 13 million who died in the concentration camps.
Silly kid.
Silly me.
Now that I have the ability to reason, I give that nonsense the flick. 8)

It is an uncomfortable arrogance, but this isn't what we were talking about.
If other ethnic groups embraced their religion, they are equal members of the faith.
This is definitely not signs of racism. 8)

Australia has become very secular, compared to when I was a kid, so religion doesn't have as much influenced as in America.
Are there a lot of hypocrites in Australian Christianity?
I don't think so, but I don't mix much.

I was a committed Christian until I was about 20, btw.
I should have simply been committed.

Once again, if it wasn't for the brutality of the Versailles Treaty, there would never have been a Hitler.
That is the bottom line. 8)
Everything/k else is moot. ;)
