8 made it through:

Kemi Badenoch
Suella Braverman
Jeremy Hunt
Penny Mordaunt
Rishi Sunak
Liz Truss
Tom Tugendhat
Nadhim Zahawi

Its hard to guess as there will be all sort of shenanigans going on behind the scenes, but if I had to guess at one to win I would go with Mourdant.

Tugendhat too non Tory to win, Sunak too disliked by the members to win.

My only hope is that the hard right vote gets split between Mourdant, Braverman & Badenoch and all 3 end up failing

same here!

its worrying to think that 1 of them will be in charge of the country in a few weeks time.

God help us if Braverman gets in. Johnson will just be viewed as the warm up act if that happens.

They are actually the worst shower of shite I've ever seen.

It's a good job we can laugh about it.

Already claims that Hunt only made it through as Sunak's supporters started voting for him as Sunak wants someone even more disliked than him to get through

This is the way the potential leaders of a country perform.

There's just no hope for us.

And if Truss gets the job with the likes off Dorries and Rees Mogg backing her. Well we might as well be back at square one. there's not a dynamic one amongst them.

You couldn't make this up. It would make a great comedy if it wasn't real.

More like Faulty Towers.

Wait until Johnsons nominations for the house of Lords. Apparently he's got all his friends and family on his list.

I don't know how true that is BTW.

Some wild predictions

- Badeoch first eliminated
- Tugendhat either eliminated in round 2-4 or drops out to back Hunt when it becomes apparent he can’t win. Shortly after, Mordaunt also endorses Hunt
- the nutters begin to coalesce around Truss and she makes it to the final two along with Sunak
- Truss beats Sunak in the members’ vote

Christ... Truss is a semi-transparent Thatcher-wannabe and about as effective as a draught.

I reckon Mordaunt and Sunak for the final 2.

Or maybe we could have an all female final. Now that would make things more interesting.

Make them fight it out.

Mordaunt vs Truss in a paddling pool full of custard.

It's worrying that out of that lot, Hunt is the most sane!

They are all extremists. Every year, the government gets more and more crazy and extreme. Remember the halcyon days of the coalition government of Cameron and Clegg?

Either Mourdant V Sunak or Mourdant Vs Truss for the final 2 I reckon.

Sunak would lose heavily. Not sure on Truss Vs Mourdant.

Robert Peston claims the ERG are going to push for Braverman. Would be insane to have her running the country imo, but I think she is the one contender who almost guarantees a Tory loss at the next election. So it gives hope.

Did this topic get moved out of News and Current Events? I'm sure it was in there at first :?

Also I just read that most of the Tory candidates for PM want to slow down action to reach net zero emissions. With the current heatwaves and extreme heat warnings, this is making them look very out of touch and even dangerous.
